Does any one using this receiver? S video is the highest level output. I have it connected to an RCA model hd27f534t 27" 4:3 hd tv. The tv seems to have a mind of its own & makes it own mind up on what format the screen it in. When watching OTA on the HD channels it will let you select the 16:9 option so you can see the wide screen. But if it is a sd signal it will not let you change the format. When I am watching the echostar over the s video input there are also no options on the RCA tv. There is an option on the echostar receiver for 4:3 & 16:9 format but I can not see that it is changing any thing either. Has any one else had any experience with this Echostar receiver or this RCA tv?

I have the Dish 3700 the predecessor to the 3900. It is an SD receiver only. It does not receive any HD satellite channels. It does not have any OTA capability except to receive the OTA local channels from satellite and at that it only receives the 4x3 version of the OTA channels from satellite.

It sends the 4x3 picture to your TV via the connections available. I suspect any other processing is being done by your TV.

If you have the STB connected to your TV via the STB antenna out connection your TV will get the satellite picture via channel 3/4. When the STB is off it will pass through the antenna input to this output.
