Amazon does this a lot on titles to gauge interest and then pass it on. I would take it with a grain of salt.

Total guess on my part, but with Part 4 hitting theaters in 2008 maybe we'll get lucky and they'll release these in HD then (or maybe in Fall 2008). Considering Raiders is my favorite movie, this would be most welcome. I think it's 50/50 it might happen, as long as HD optical doesn't stall out...

I've seen this before in DVD movies. Movies that are highly popular but haven't been announced for the format. Amazon will put up a placeholder for the movie and have people sign up for it. Once an official announcement is made, then they let everybody know.

Hopefully this won't be like Indiana Jones on DVD. Indiana Jones came to DVD on October 21 of 2003 - SIX YEARS after DVDs debuted in the US in 1997.

If history does hold true, I would expect a release date in 2012.

Isn't this a Paramount movie, so whenver it's released it will be on both formats? I would love to have the INDY movies on TotalHD discs.

I would NOT want to see it on TotalBS, er TotalHD. By the time Spielberg and Lucas allow the Indy trilogy to be out on any HD media the format war will have ended.

Agreed, this movie should be encoded to the max specs of Blu-ray. So hopefully before the encoding of Raiders begins, Paramount would have ended their support for HD-DVD.

My favorite movie series of all time. PLEASE Paramount, don't nerf the release by making it Total HD!!!!! I want uncompressed PCM audio or better.

By the time it's out all TotalHD discs will be 30GB(HD DVD side/50GB(BD side). I doubt the format war will have ended and it will still be a niche product anyway. They will have the capability to have full specs on each side. Even with separate discs that doesn't gurantee what will be on the disc. As long as there is lossless audio, either PCM or TrueHD on each disc it will be great. By then every BD player will decode TrueHD and DTSHD MA. If not there will be something seriously wrong.

Of course, it's a Paramount franchise. However, Lucas and Speilberg have to pull the trigger in this I believe. Expect the same kind of slow-to-market strategy as Star Wars and E.T.

Paramount hasn't stepped up with any uncompressed sound format yet, and I wouldn't even expect any of the Indiana Jones movies to hit until part 4 is released on DVD, if that.

What's better than uncompressed audio?

Losslessly compressed audio that sounds the same and takes up considerably less space.

Owned :D

What's better than uncompressed audio?

Having the actors, musicians, and sound effects team come to my house and perform the movie audio live.

Owned x2. ;)
