asj2006 03-20-07, 01:18 AM Actually, I'll probably pick it up from Best Buy...I can't wait for the shipping! :D
asj2006 03-20-07, 03:18 PM I did not find the game in the title, and it looks like others were also expecting it as well....i would think disney would at least tell us what the problem was...probably could not polish the thing on time for the release....

On top of that, Disney’s really big announcement - and surely a sign of things to come with the release of Cars in the not-so-distant future, are the details supplied for Chicken Little on Blu-Ray Disc. 1080p video and uncompressed 48kHz, 16-bit 5.1 audio make up the technical specs. Most importantly - and no surprise to anyone who criticised the original DVD’s lack of meaty bonus features - the disc will include brand new extras created in high definition exclusively for this release, including The Alien Invasion Game, a one or two player interactive set-top game that lets you battle invading aliens by playing as your favorite characters from the movie. Hosted by Chicken Little, the game is programmed in Java allowing the player to control their character in real time, all within a seamless game experience that would not be possible on DVD. Another hi-def exclusive is the Filmmaker Q&A, a unique interactive in-movie experience that allows the viewer to ask filmmakers Mark Dindal and Randy Fullmer questions about the making of the movie as the flick unspools.
ToEhrIsHuman 03-20-07, 03:52 PM It's possible that certain (if not all) BD-J features may be hidden if the proper Java environment is not found on the player. Perhaps the game is on the disc but your player requires a firmware upgrade to see/play it. Just a guess.

Actually, I was referring to the package title itself...that is, i have not bought the title yet, but read the back cover and looked at all features....the promised feature was not listed on the back, so i have to guess they did not include it...
note that hidefdigest.com in their review also never mentioned this feature...
Saw the thread so just fired up the PS3 and played the game... it is indeed on the disc.

really??? :o
so, is it as lame as the speed game?
It's just space invaders except w/ the Chicken Run characters... something the kids might play for a few minutes, but that's it.

well, sounds ok then, ANYTHING is cooler than that lame speed game.... :D
The game is there and is pretty cool - for a disc game. The film-maker q&a is interesting as well. A good first attempt at utilizing the blu-ray features.
Here's more from Animated Views on the disc

OHHHHHHH!!!! MY hopes for PoTC and Cars just went up...Disney REALLY is pushing blu-ray hard! :)
The movie is only $14 if you use the ps3 rebate booklet as well.
asj2006 03-20-07, 10:16 PM Wow! The darn thing IS pretty cool...you actually need to do strategy or you'll run out of stuff to throw at the ships....so, it's NOT easy at all.....i finished the last stages of resistance in one sitting (finished the reactor after maybe 5 tries), but i actually can't seem to get beyond level 2 in this game before running out of stuff to throw at the ships... 1025 points is the best i've done in 5 tries...is there some technique to this? I am SOOO embarrased since this is a kid's game right? :o
I'll post pics and a longer review later...
I also thought the in-movie Q&A was pretty ok, especially some of the questions about the characters and ther fact you can actually hear and see the movie while the director talks in the foreground....oh, yeah, and the director's were pretty dorky when they intro'd the feature, but seem pretty nice guys...
asj2006 03-21-07, 01:28 AM well, I lasted longer, up to level 3, with 1425 points....there are 10 levels however, so I'm obviously doing something wrong....
i also just realized the ships blink just before they shoot downwards...hmmm.....
My god, those 2 directors are dorky  (but nice! and i like this movie better than open season actually)
asj2006 03-21-07, 01:40 AM hehehe...5300 points...10 levels...it was hard in the end, with the ships so close to the ground, but my hair trigger reflexes won the day!!!! :D :D :D :D

asj2006 03-21-07, 01:59 AM An example of the in-movie Q&A...it's ok actually, MUCH better than the pop up trivia since you control the questions....

asj2006 03-22-07, 01:47 AM The special features included in this title are really something...i appluad disney for the work they've put into it...
More screenshots....

asj2006 03-22-07, 01:49 AM here are the instructions for Single Player mode of the game...there is also a TWO-PLAYER (!) mode which i have not tried yet...gotta get my wife in here....

Dave Mack 03-22-07, 01:59 AM So this stuff is working but WB can't get it together for the BD's of The MAtrix films? Confused....
supermackem 03-22-07, 02:06 AM Can the game be played with the ps3 pad.
asj2006 03-22-07, 02:08 AM So this stuff is working but WB can't get it together for the BD's of The MAtrix films? Confused....
The problem is that some BD players may not play these features...i would welcome posts from people with non-PS3 players.....because there are more manufacturers in the BDA, it was harder to get them all to agree on hardware specs than the lone toshiba with HD-DVD, which is what may be holding up Blu-ray features until 2nd gen players come out.
Then again, warner had been an HD-DVD exclusive studio before, so maybe they're just tweaking the collective noses of the BDA before releasing on blu-ray as the day gets closer.
asj2006 03-22-07, 02:11 AM Can the game be played with the ps3 pad.
I use the PS3 controller....arrows for movement left and right, x to fire into the air....
Dave Mack 03-22-07, 12:33 PM that's what I figured asj, So they just DON'T release them...?
Let the people who own compatable players get the discs, let the people who own the incompatable players at least have the option to buy the disc even if they can't have all the features. Everybody at least sees the film.
puddy77 03-22-07, 02:00 PM DVD Town just gave this a good review (http://www.dvdtown.com/reviews/chickenlittle/4462), but they mention the Java stuff won't work on the Samsung.Unfortunately, I was unable to access two additional features for Blu-ray--an Alien Invasion Game and an Interactive Filmmaker Q/A--because of a Java script error that kept coming up on my Samsung BD-P1000.
ToEhrIsHuman 03-22-07, 03:20 PM So this stuff is working but WB can't get it together for the BD's of The MAtrix films? Confused....
The BD-J layer may be finalized and working, albeit on certain players only, but that doesn't mean that developers for the studios are up-to-speed on it yet. They have to familiarize themselves with the API and then actually code and test the features. BD-J is somewhat uncharted waters at this point so I would just give the studios a bit of a break, though I am anxious for titles like 'The Matrix' and 'Batman Begins' on BD too. To HD DVD's and Microsoft's credit, they do have a year lead on BD-J in adding interactive features to their format.
Dave Mack 03-22-07, 10:48 PM Then WB should hire the people who got it to work on Chicken Little...
Can anyone tell us if the BD-J features work in PowerDVD?
Talkstr8t 03-25-07, 06:14 AM Can anyone tell us if the BD-J features work in PowerDVD?PowerDVD and WinDVD both fully support BD-J.

Hold on a sec. The picture of the director there. When you make your choice, does the director explains his decision as in the video plays WHILE the main movie also plays?
fuad

No, disney did not do a PIP...that is a case of the director explaining over a still image, not one video dynamically overlying another, since that would not work probably even in the PS3 right now.
What happens when a video is presented in the Q&A is the scene cuts to the directors speaking, then cuts back to the movie automaticaly after they are finished.
