I'm officially format neutral--HD A2 and PS3. I really don't care about the format war and I really don't worry at all about being "orphaned" if one format "wins." I'm sure there are quite a few folks like me in the forum.

Having been burned by the appalling quality of the "Superman Returns" HD DVD, I look to reviews more than ever to help me decide if an investment is high definition software is worthwhile.

That being the case, does anyone know of a source where there are comparative reviews of titles released in both HD formats so that format neutral folks can buy the best transfer?

Best,
Brian

Widescreen review rates them in their print version. I noticed quality depends more on studio than format for Video. Most seem to be getting same score for video while, Blu-Ray gets slightly better rating for audio if there is PCM track.

www.highdefdigest.com and www.dvdtalk.com offer reviews that mention title's counterparts. They seem to be quite comparable, even when using different codecs.

Bottom line, Sony and Lionsgate were the first 2 BD studios out of the gate and they both screwed up their transfers big time. Not all of them, but most of them. A couple of months in marked a turn around in their quality. Now everyone on both formats is turning out great transfers.

Except Fox. They have a couple of good transfers out, but most are phoned in. Shame because the audio on them is superb.

The last round was certainly tripe, but they started off pretty good. Let's hope all those delays were to improve the transfers and not to add another layer of AACS like the Studio Canal ones.
