Hi, I'm looking for a cheap movie style popcorn maker (mabye around $100), I heard of the 2oz Kettle Popcorn Maker, and it looks ok, but do you guys have any opinions of it? I was worried how much popcorn it would make. How much is 2 ounces? Do you guys have any other recommendations for other popcorn machines? I want one that makes the same popcorn as in the movie theatres.

Thanks a bunch

2oz isn't very much at all. Depending on how many people you need the smallest I would go for is 4oz which should be okay if its just you and 2 or 3 others. May need to make two batches but thats okay. Anyways, there is a popcorn machine at Sam's Club, a 4oz one, for $199 that many people on the forums here have...includes stand and everything.

I would recommend a four ounce or larger machine.
The 'novelty' poppers are just that.
For example, I have the small 'air popper' machine from Helman Group (Nostalgia) and I only used it once. Flavourless disaster. It is just a display item now.
I haven't used the 2oz machine, but, again, it is small and more novelty than functionality. You may be disappointed, due to small size, and the hassle just for a batch of 2 ounces.
Microwave at 3.5 ounces may be a better solution, then just serve it up in authentic popcorn containers.
I have a commercial quality popper, and use it for parties, but, for a spontaneous movie night, I use microwave popcorn and serve in movie theater popcorn tubs I have on hand. :)

Get a quality machine. If you can spend $100, wait and save up and spend $200. I have a 4oz gm fun pop and love it.

I would wait a day or two... There is going to be a Power Buy on popcorn machines and accessories beginning sometime in the next couple of days. You may be able to get that quality machine for the price you want to pay. Keep an eye on this thread... This is where the powerbuy should be posted. It is supposed to be with stargate cinema.

Hi, a powerbuy would be excellent.. how do they usually work? What kind of price/model am I looking at, and would it be available in canada?

I have no av room.. i'm just a university student who loves popcorn. I move around every few months aswell, so the extra baggage of a stand might not be in my best interest.

Thanks a lot for all of the help

Hey thanks a lot for the link,
The prices still seem a little deep (can't find any machines less than $250).. is there anything else available that might be within my range?

Im still looking for a regular theatre style popcorn machine, just mabye not one thats very high end. Sams Club seems to have a 4oz machine with stand for sale for $200... is there any way I can get a 4oz machine with no stand for $100?

I just bought the Sams club 199 special and so far am happy with it. Although I have never owned a more expesive machine I dont know what I am missing. It does have a warmer that works but again I dont know how it compairs. Any one know if its garbage or if for the price it will get me by.

The Sam's 199 special has been working great for me. Just 2 jams in 100 uses. I did bend the arm like stated before on the forum. It can take 1 cup of corn with no problems, So far very happy.
