Shaw Cable and Starchoice Sat. in Canada have had A&E since it premiered last September.

Keep in mind all they have shown is CSI:Miami, and an Elton John concert (I think, I wasn't home).

King of Cars tonight is a big deal. They don't even show The Sopranos in WS like they said they would.

"Kings of South Beach" was also in HD last week. I've seen King of Cars, also. They are slowly ramping up their HD content. I guess it's good that it is ramping up, even if it is very, very slowly.

Also, I read or heard someplace that starting in April, the Sopranos will be in HD on A&E.

I was wondering about Kings of South Beach. Again, not home, so didn't see it live, and I wasn't going to record it.

I remember reading somewhere that the first season of the Sopranos (which I believe is currently airing on A&EHD) wasn't in HD or widescreen...it wasn't until the 2nd season (or 3rd, i don't know...never watched the show) that the show was done in WS and in HD...

I guess it's good that it is ramping up, even if it is very, very slowly.

I believe this to be correct. You just can't create 16x9 HD if it didn't exist before without serious cropping of content, etc. Give me the original OAR in the best picture quality available and be done with it.

The Sopranos is shot on film, and wasn't ORIGINALLY in HD on HBO. However, sometime around the beginning of the third season, they remastered the first season for repeat airings, and they have been in HD each time they have been shown on HBO since.

So, yes, HD masters of the first season are available, but A&E chose, for some reason, not to use them.

This week the new episodes of Gene Simmons: Family Jewels were shown as 16:9 in 4:3 letterbox mode on the HD channel in Austin, TX on TWC. What happened? :confused:

The 1st episode of Son's of Hollywood was in HD as well. The second episode was for some reaso n 16x9 in 4x3 pillar. Weird.

Yeah, some shows that are obviously shot in HD are now pillarboxed and letterboxed down to a postage stamp image.. this happened with the new season of flip this house on Sat.. Gene Simmons and the second episode of sons of hollywood.

I dont know whats going on, but its frustrating.. especially since this is a "premium" channel that Im paying for.

The new episode last week was in HD as well (via E*), not sure about any repeats that had been shown.

As far as I know, only the last 2 episodes of this show have been in HD (definitely wasn't the last 2 seasons). So the older eps showing up in HD is not very likely to happen.

Vince Neil (Mötley Crüe vocalist) has a reality show coming this fall on A&E. They came in to film at our radio studio on Friday morning...and they were shooting everything in HD.

We just got AEHD on WOW cable a couple weeks ago. So far it's been a joke, I haven't seen an HD show yet. 24 in HD? Nope. The Sopranos? Nope. etc. etc.

I also cant tell if Dog was shot HD for this season or not. the commercials for the eps look like they are in 16:9 but the show is 4:3.. I guess they could be cropping for the ads. With his extradition looking like a sure thing they may not be spending money on the show.

Why are the new episodes of Driving Force not in HD? They are that stupid 4:3 letterboxed version which effectively makes my 51" TV a dang 32". This channel sucks why can't they get a clue?!!!
