hello guys,
Just purchase our first lcd hdtv and it will be delivered this friday. We are planning to subscribe to a cable company and get their digital package.
What else should I buy so that I could enjoy the tv? What type of cables do I need to buy? I am also planning to get an indoor antenna to get additional HD channels, since the apartment management is strict on outdoor antennas. What would you recommend?
Thanks :)

I would wait for the TV to arrive. Then (provided you have basic analog cable and your TV comes with a QAM tuner) plug the TV to your current cable and scan the stations.
If you pick up your local networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS) in HD and are fine with that then dont go any further.
But if you really want 100 versions of HBO and 200000 music channels you just may need to order the digital tier. Also if you want additional HD channels that your carrier provides make sure you order the HD tier as well as most cable providers sell that outside of the standard digital tier.
And in most areas OTA HD is the network channels (compression aside) you would be duplicating your efforts if you get the network via cable as is so a antenna would not be needed.
As for cables, it all depends on what you are trying to connect. Generally digital connection first before analog.

"Just bought a hdtv, what else do I need???"
One word.....Antenna! Try that before signing your life away to Cable or Satellite. You might be surprised how many channels you'll get....HDTV, subchannels of weather, news, music videos, some colleges add their radio stations as second-audios. In 23 months, all your locals will have to be in Digital, eliminating all those analog "distortions" that used to encourage people to go with pay Cable.
Hang out a bit on your local city's thread, and you'll hear about what is available, and what antenna you might need. Often, a set-top (or, "entertinment center top-shelf" :) ) antenna, like the Silver Sensor, is all you'll need. They run somewhat less than the price of a month of non-Digital Basic Cable.
If you really want certain channels that only Cable or DBS can provide, add them later.

Thanks for your inputs.
What type/brand would you recommend if I were to buy an indoor antenna?
