Hello everyone,
I was hoping to get some help locating a dvd player with a fairly specific option. I used to work for a DVD authoring facility with a dvd player in the QC department, that could display the current layer that the laser was playing back. I believe that it would even display (using a disc icon + an arrow) where the laser was. This was infinitely helpful when identifying issues during the authoring process.

The dvd player was a Sony DVP-N5725P. These are not available now. But I have to believe that there are newer sonys with similar software built in. We would access it thru the "Display" button while playing back video...I think you had to dig a little bit into multiple menus to access...and that it wasn't immediately obvious that you could do this.

The sonys we have in our current QC department do not seem to have this ability...they all have very limited options from the Display menu.

Does anyone know if the player they currently own (Sony's or no), have this ability?

It would be a tremendous help. Thank you!

Collin

Doing a little bit more research, I did some digging in the trusty DVD List for some answers as well. Here's what I found:

"...as I recall most of my Sony's have this, but you need to SWITCH ON the layer break display - normally it shows encode rate...
---
"...We've got an older Sony model type DVP-NS530 with this feature in the testing matrix studio..."
---
"...Our Sony DVP-NS715P has this option."

Unfortunatley, all these players are currently off the retail market....which makes them difficult to find. I am trying to locate a player currently available.

Thank you!
