I'm in the market for a 32" to 37" LCD and looking to spend less than $1,000 on it. I currently have a macbook that is streaming tv shows recorded on a network tv, plays dvd, and itunes audio and video.

If all goes well, I'll probably replace the macbook with a mac mini once leopard hits.

With this in mind, can people offer a few tv recommendations that work "out of the box." I'm hoping for a digital connection (DVI to DVI or DVI to HDMI). I am assuming DVI to DVI won't require any tweaking, but it seems, from what I have read that most DVI to HDMI require configuration hacks.

Anyone have DVI to HDMI connections that work out of the box without overscan?

Buy.com was having a sale on HANNspree Xv 37" 720p LCD TV for $699, free shipping. There is also a 1080P 37" Westinghouse for $999 somewhere. These are not the top tier LCDs but are pretty respectable. The HANNspree has 3 HDMI inputs (you can use a DVI to HDMI cable).

Thanks for the reply bommai. Do you know if the Hannspree dvi to HDMI connection works out of the box without overscan issues, etc?

Anyone have DVI to HDMI connections that work out of the box without overscan? We've got a good thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=806003) going on 40" LCD's and the Mac. There are some suggestions for 37" displays there, too. I'd recommend, at a minimum that you get a 1080p display if you are going to eventually get HD content, and if you are going to use it for desktop work. There are some monitors that work very well for what you are looking for. I got a 37" 1080p Westinghouse 37w3 LCD display with HDMI and 2 DVI, and component hookups for 800 at a black friday sale. Works great with my Macbook. 1:1 pixel perfect out of the box--no tweaking or hacking. Just need a mini-dvi->dvi adapter for $20 from Apple.

I just purchased a 32" HANNSpree HDTV for my Apple TV for $500 and I am shocked at the quality of this thing. It was the cheapest 32" HDTV set I could buy for my bedroom and was very impressed with the overall quality (workmanship, UI) and the picture looks pretty darn good.
