Should Warner Brothers continue its policy of day and date release with the DVD versions, Zodiac has just been announced for June release. This film is a masterpiece. I just saw it a second time this past weekend and it was even better the second time around.

I know a trick question when I see one.

So where's the Blood Diamond day-and-date release?

Keep in mind that Blood Diamond (also a Warner Brothers title) hit SD-DVD yesterday, and no Blu-Ray or HD-DVD has been officially announced. I'd wait for the official announcement before getting my hopes up. I hope it is a day-for-date release, though - I'll buy this one blind.

I hope it is indeed day and date - it's a real shame this movie didn't find a bigger audience. If it's not a combo, I'll go HD, if it is a combo, I'm afraid I will go Blu (unless the HD version gets superior audio).

Am I mistaken or has Warner made a pretty good effort to release day and date? I think Blood Diamond is an anomaly.

I think they're mixed with the day-and-date. I ended up buying A Scanner Darkly and Wicker Man on DVD in Decemeber since there was nary a whisper of the Blu-ray coming out. Lo and behold Wicker Man pops up a couple of months later and A Scanner Darkly is coming too now. Disappointing.

Same thing i posted over in the HD-DVD software thread. Warner Bros only has the international distribution rights as Paramount has the N. American distribution rights to the film. Both helped produce the movie much like what happened with The Prestige with Touchstone and WB teaming up for its release. So here's hoping Paramount does a day and date release for the film.

I certainly hope it is Paramount and not Warner, in light of Warner's very sorry track record recently on PQ quality.

I don't know how reliable Davis DVD is, but they state and I quote, "Warner's Zodiac" Here: Davis DVD (http://www.davisdvd.com/news/dvd.html)

I believe Davis DVD is a UK site.

Paramount distributes US, Warners non-US

The Departed

WHAT!?!?!?! Anyway, I really hope Zodiac goes day and date, it's my favourite movie of the year so far.

The mediocre PQ of Warner's "high def" version of The Departed is a subject that has been much discussed in these forums.

WRT Zodiac, I haven't seen it but I am looking forward to it, provided Paramount does the transfer.
