My progress on a dedicated HT has ground to a halt- can't find a supplier for RC. According to the JM website, in Columbus Ohio, Lute HVAC is a supplier of JM products, but went there today dressed as an HVAC vendor (thanks for suggestion BigMouthDC), asked for the product- they don't have it, won't get it!!!

I need about 120 sq ft for front wall, any suggestions?

Can't believe there isn't an online supplier for this....

Mark, I picked up some Owens Corning SelectSound Acoustic Blanket from IDI Distributors in Cleveland, it's similar in performance as RC. Here is the link to the material information.

My contact at IDI was Greg Thomas, his cell number is 440-821-9827, I belive I paid around $250 for a 72" X 70' roll.

You did a search for commercial HVAC suppliers I assume. I called all the suppliers on the list to see if they carried it and what their price is before I picked it up at one of them. Tell them you are looking for a 1" duct liner from Johns Manville. When they find it, as them if it id the Linacoustic RC. If not, ask them whick one it is. There are a ton of alternatives you can use from many different companies.

Bob Gold made a great list of possibilities. Just look at the list and look at the absorption coefficients for Lin. RC and then find an alternative with similar numbers. I don't have a link to the list, but it's been posted in threads countless times.

When ever I need this link I type "Bob Golds absorption" into google and it's the first link shown.

Thanks all. From Bob Gold's chart, the SelectSound blanket is pretty close to OC703 and linacoustic RC, I might try to find some.

Since the Linacoustic comes in a big roll, seems like there would be a lot of people with leftover. For example I only need about 120 sq ft for my 14x9 front wall, and the linacoustic roll I found at SPI (but they won't sell to me) is 468.75 SF/Roll, (1” x 56-1/4” x 100’ ).

Anyone with leftover willing to sell??

SPI...that's odd because that's who I purchased my ductliner from.

The SPI branch in my town I think would have sold it to me if they carried it, but they don't. They referred me to another SPI branch 100 miles away in Cincinnati, and by phone that branch told me I needed to setup a business account to get it.

It may be that if I drive down there and walk in as the hvac guy, they might do a counter cash sale to me, but it's a ways to go. However, I'm getting anxious to finish this up...

Ask for "duct liner". Some don't seem to know the Lincoustic "Johns Manville" brand.

I got mine from a guy in Omaha.

Bummer. This step also took me the longest...just hang in there and don't forego the Duct Liner because it will make a huge difference.

I’m very sad to hear your results, Mark! (Particularly since I am also in Columbus and was hoping to use the same supplier.)

Forum member bpape sells OC 703 on his website. His price is about $0.77 per square foot (plus shipping), which is more than what people are saying they paid for Linacoustic. But at least he has it.

I'm concerned about the yellow OC703 showing through my GOM 701 black during the day, so I'm trying to find black acoustic material.

From my other thread "QuietR", someone mentioned they used CertainTeed ToughGard2.

The accoustic properties are for the most part identical to OC703 and Linacoustic RC. There are two dealers here in COlumbus so I'm going to check them out today

I used the ToughGard2 in my room. The acoustic properties were virtually identical to Linacoustic (according to the Bob Gold site). I was able to find a 100'x48"x1" roll by calling a local HVAC supply house. It was delivered to my door (in MN) for under $200. Much better than the prices I've been hearing some people pay for Linacoustic.

Also--I wouldn't worry too much about anything showing through the GOM. You can't see any batting, studs, etc., through the GOM in my room, even when light is hitting the fabric directly.

Mark, I puchrased my OC703 from Ready Traps (http://www.readyacoustics.com/index.php?go=products.proddetails&prod=OC703UF). The shipping was painful, but frankly, I had called every commerical HVAC shop within 100+ miles with no luck. Not only would nobody admit to having it (or Linacoustic or ???), but they said I need thousands of sq. ft. before they would order it. This didn't seem right, but I was at the same point as you, so I just ordered it...

Also, I have FR701 covering my 703 on the soffits, and I can't see the yellow. I also have some Magenta GOM on the lower walls, same thing -- the yellow isn't visible.

Thanks all for the encouragement and responses. Looks like I scored locally, and ordered a roll of OC SelectSound Black Acoustic Blanket (specs from Gold's site match up even with 703 & Lin RC). 47"x55' roll for $186, pickup next week.

Moral of story: be flexible, don't be stuck on just one brand (in my case Linacoustic RC), print off Bob Gold's coefficient charts, call everybody locally & just ask for one inch duct liner. If you get an affirmative, then ask what brand/type, & check the coefficient table, and go with it!
