92" reclining sofa in black leather where all positions recline. I need all positions to recline in order to fit it thru the door and not just the ends. The closest I have found is made by Lane that retails for $1099.
Alternatively, I can take a 92" black leather sofa as long as the height is no higher than 34".

I was going to say Lane as I saw one of those while looking, but it looks like you've already seen that one.

A number of modern (as opposed to traditional) sofas made in Europe do that. They recline all the way into becoming a bed if you want. Our sofa, from a French maker, does what you want but is smaller than what you are looking for. It also costs several times what the Lane piece costs and takes 5-7 months from time of order to be made and delivered to the US.
If you don't mind a modern look, you might find what you want at www.limn.com, www.themagazine.info, or www.dwr.com

I see that it is about five times the cost. Will it last five times as long or has five times more expensive ingredients in it? Is exclusivity and "design" the only thing that makes it cost more?

Not sure if folks have ran across the advertisements for DirectBuy but you need to avoid it like the plaque. They want an upfront membership fee of $5K and will not show you the pricing until you sign up. Run in the opposite direction.
We have Berkline sofa which the backs come off completely. It is several years old now and don't recall the price. It worked great getting it downstairs to the basement theater. Maybe do a search for Berkline sofas?

"30" door. I hope the only option isn't overpriced furniture where you are paying for design instead of quality. I really would like to stay in the $1K range.

Also visited CostCo and the quality of furniture for their price is horrible...

chiltown,
Which Lane model has a triple recliner? I've been trying to find something like that myself. I've search their web site & don't see anything.
Thanks.
