HDNet announces MLS Broadcast Schedule for the 2007 season

Network’s fifth year of MLS coverage includes 13 exclusive games

Dallas, Texas - Tuesday, March 20th – HDNet announces its high-definition MLS schedule for the 2007 season, including 13 games that will be exclusive to the network. HDNet is the official, national high-definition television partner of MLS.

"We are very excited to kick off another season of MLS on HDNet,” said Mark Cuban, President and Co-founder of HDNet. "There is so much excitement this year, especially with the Galaxy’s acquisition of David Beckham that soccer fans are going to love our high definition coverage of these games!"

HDNet’s schedule, with a total of 31 regular season games, will kick off on Saturday, April 7th as the Columbus Crew host the New York Red Bulls at 7:00 pm ET, in what will likely be U.S. National Team legend Claudio Reyna’s MLS debut.

On April 28th, HDNet brings viewers expansion club Toronto FC’s first-ever home game from the brand new BMO Field as they take on the Kansas City Wizards.

Among the exclusive games on HDNet is a rematch of last year’s Western Conference Championship game when the defending MLS Cup Champion Houston Dynamo travel to the new home of the Colorado Rapids, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, on Saturday, August 11th.

MLS fans will likely get one of their first high definition looks at international soccer star David Beckham as his Los Angeles Galaxy take on Real Salt Lake at the Home Depot Center on Saturday, September 1st.

HDNet’s schedule includes a live game broadcast each weekend throughout the regular season, most of them falling on Saturday nights.

Kurt - Can you put something in the online program descriptions beside just "Team A vs. Team B" so that we can create a TiVo season pass to record all of the games? Something like "live MLS soccer" so that all games can be recorded with a single keyword. I really enjoy watching MLS games on HDNet but miss most of them because I can't record them automatically. Thanks.

Oh hell yeah. If HDNet could do that I would paint HDNet in permanent marker on my face. That is of course if they weren't outbid by Golden Palace. :D ok maybe not.

This is a list of reason why I much prefer HDNet over ESPN and FSC.

Games in HD and 5.1. Although now ESPN can say that.
Announcers that actually have knowledge of the game. During the WC you heard guys who I've never heard announce soccer games before doing it. The best ESPN announcers were relegated to studio shows.
Little bity tiny scoreboard in the upper left hand corner. That's all that we need.
We actually get crowd noise. My wife has to come in and turn the sound down because she keeps hearing that horn sound.
Framed for 16x9. We get to see a lot more of the field.

Great job HDNet.

I missed the first week but caught Saturday nights game. I was happy to see the game but the PQ was terrible. It looked even worse than my local NBC's attempts at NFL with 14.5 mbps. I hope D* fixes this with mpeg-4.
