I'm coming up on the 6 month mark of owning this set and was thinking about ordering a lamp "just in case." Others have said you shouldn't buy one and then let it sit around for too long though.
Just curious as to how many months you got out of your A2000 before you had to replace the lamp.

The XBR2 models come with an extra lamp in the box with the tv, so I doubt if there's a problem with buying an extra and keeping it in reserve. I've had my A2000 only since last November, and although it's getting pretty heavy use I've not had to replace the bulb yet.

I thought the bulb was rated for 8000 hours? Thats about 4 years is it not?
Depends how much you use your tv. I think mine will go out after 2-1/2 years if it last 8,000 hours.
Given that the model only came out 9 months ago (or so), I don't expect you to get much data for how long the bulbs will last. My first bulb is at about 1500 (note I virtually never power-cycle the TV) and the bulb is fine.

SXRD has been out longer than 9 mos right?

He asked about the A2000, which just came out mid last year. The A2000 SXRD has a different lamp part number than the previous XBR1 SXRD. Their lamp life might be the same, but it might not. Time will tell (and it is too soon to do more than speculate).

Ahhh ok, I didn't know that, I thought the bulbs were the same across the entire SXRD generations.
