If one has to put an ugly (IMO sub) into a multi purpose small living room area, is it possible or at all detrimental to cover the black box with a fabric? I don't mean enclose it, but just 'drape" a fabric over it (except the back due to amp heat I guess. Kind alike throwing a table cloth on a dining table. Maybe a fabric w/ a design or colour that works with the decor or whatver.

No problem, the fabric is completely transparent to bass freq.

Just don't cover the AMP portion like you mentioned and you'll be fine.
