Ok the box says not to tip or lay flat....
But the only way that I could get the set home from the store was to lay it flat in the back of my "Chevy HHR"... the trip home was less than 15mins...
Tell me that I have not damaged the set........
I could understand leaving it down for a long time..
I took this to be like refrigerator which says do not tip...
but the only way to move a refrigerator is by tipping them with a dolly....
So how long should I leave the set sitting up again before I plug it in?
"They" suggest 12 hours for a refrigerator.

No need to let it sit. The main reason they say to keep upright for transport is so you don't break the glass. Open it up. If the glass is not broken you should be fine. Plug her in and let'r rip.

So it is not like the 'wifes tale' of the 'gas seeping out'
But has more to do with the glass not being able to support its own weight?
OR
The chance of hitting the dispaly pannel... which I don't think would happen with this shipping box as there is almost 10" of space on the front and back of the set in the box...
Well I am not going to have a chance to even un-pack till Sunday.. so I really hope that everything is fine...

Nope, gas coming out would be definite urban legend.
Just like transporting a mirror or window, you should transport them vertically to reduce the risk of breakage.

Hopefully it's fine, otherwise you're out a few grand $$ !!

It's not a problem to ship it short distances lying flat as I had to do that for mine. It's just more protected when stored upright.
