Would I be better off buying (I'm not tied to these brands) a HT quality projector in the range of an optoma hd70 or sharp dt100 (slighty under $1K) or go towards the brighter models such as a sharp xr-10xl ($800). I want to be able to show a big image on the garage (16' x 9' or bigger) and not necessarily wait for total dark. On the other hand, I'd definitely consider using this in the basement in winter, so would the data type projector be hideous inside? Would the HT projector be able to put up a big bright pic outside (kids movies mostly, so not tooo particular about outdoor quality).

I use a Sharp xr-1s both outdoors and indoors (until I complete my basement). Works great outdoors and fine indoors. Can't use it permenately becasue it won't do upside down from the ceiling.
