Has anyone checked out this movie on StarzHD? This movie has an amazing 3D effect to it, I know it being animation helps but WOW if this movie doesn't make your jaw drop I don't know what will. Even if your not a fan of Anime you owe it to yourself to check out one of Hayao Miyazaki's movies, His animation style is like no other.

Miyazaki you say? I'm totally interested, but the Starz site indicates it won't be on Starz HD ever again. This morning was it! Blast.
Oh that stinks. Didn't see that in the guide or I would have tivo'd that bad boy.

Oh that sucks. Well maybe it'll be on sometime later this summer, I'll bump this thread if I see it again.
Yes, it's been on a few times in the past already. It looks great but there appears to be some sort of deinterlace issues with it I've never seen before with any other animated movie. Other people have commented on this as well.

I have howls on dvd. It isn't one of miyazaki's best, but it is still quite enjoyable. If you like his stuff and get a chance to catch it, especially in HD, I'm sure it will be a treat.

Doesn't some anime use a different frame rate for production, and thus a different cadence for conversion to 60i? ISTR that some de-interlacers don't detect this modified cadence, and thus don't correctly de-interlace, giving combing artefacts on incorrectly merged fields.

Glad to see StarzHD can't be bothered to stop running Narnia and Silent Hill every other day to give an anime movie a chance to break the monotony.
I recorded Howl's a week or so ago when I noticed it in the guide. Haven't watched it yet but I sampled a few scenes and it looked pretty nice. Not the kind of animation that has a lot of inherent detail to really pop out at you in HD like Monsters Inc or maybe Shrek, but it still looked good in HD none the less.
