View Full Version : Monoprice 5x1 HDMI Switcher LED?

I recently received Rev. 2.1 of the Monoprice 5x1 HDMI switcher, and it seems to behave a bit differently than the previous revision where its LED lights are concerned. For example, with my Oppo DV-981HD in stand-by and my DirecTV HR20-700 left always on, I get red LED lights for the associated inputs, when I have another input selected. Before, with the prior revision, these LED lights would be turned off. In fact, even with this revision, the LED lights are off when I turn off my Toshiba HD-XA2 and my Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1.

This wouldn't concern me as much if these red LED lights weren't so damn bright. They literally set a portion of the nearby wall aglow, which is distracting when watching a movie. Obviously, there are a lot of different low-tech solutions for this, but before I implement one of them (covering the face, taping over the lights, etc.), is there any means to dim the LED lights on this switcher?

Thanks.

I just got my Monoprice 5 X 1 swither and got the same issue. Sort of.

I have three inputs, PS3, Bravo D1 and Old Voom box for OTA HD. I get two red lights, one on the D1 and one on the Voom box. But not one on the PS3. Now the one thing in common is I'm using a DVI to HDMI adapter on the D1 and Voom box. No adapter needed on the PS3.

I'm wonder if the DVI to HDMI adapter is the issue?

But you are right. Those read lights are BRIGHT!

I put clear quarter inch silicone "bumpers" that are peel and stick over the led locations to diffuse some of the light. I bought these in Home Depot .

Those LEDs are sure bright. Otherwise, it is a great device and value.
