Hi all.

Best Buy IS replacing my green Blob 60" SXRD. Unfortunatly they do not carry the SXRD2. They have offered me either the A2020 or the Bravia 52".

Ive seen the A2020 in store and was not impressed and while the Bravia looks good Im afraid black levels will not be up to par.

Anyone have experience w/bb replacements? Should I fight for the sxrd2 or is that a lost cause... thoughts?

you can't really determine a PQ from store settings with crappy feed.

well i work there part time and handle a lot of these issues, they don't carry the 60" XBR model so that's a non issue. if you don't mind paying the extra money you could take store credit and look at the 70" XBR2 or some of the samsung dlps out right not or soon to come out in the magnolia stores. or even some of the other tvs in the magnolia stores or wait for the new sonys to come out. i'm hoping we carry the 60" xbr3 bc that's the tv i want since i passed on the xbr2

while the a2000 doesn't give you the same picture as the xrb2 it is still a great tv, chances are if you don't like the picture in the store which isn't really the best measuring stick for its performance it may have to do with the particular best buy you were at. ours looks good bc i set it up, make sure its not running with all the manaufactuer settings mostly notably the vivid picture setting. good luck

If the PQ on the A2020 is like the PQ on the A2000 (and it is) I'd go for the 2020, the PQ is fantastic or at least has been in the variety of stores I've been in. I'd definately consider the 2020 as that is one that I'm considering right now

I was in a Sony style store yesterday and the A2020 was next to a 52in Bravia LCD. The LCD had livelier pix than the SXRD and they both had the same feed. Even the Sony 46inch V2500 beat the crap out of the A2020. Just my opinion.

I actually like the Bravia but it seems (on these forums anyway) to have cloudy issues. I dont want to have to deal with a new problem after the green blob issue.

Does BB's replacement have a time period? So I could wait for the new models?

The factory defaults on the LCDs look a lot better in a store environment that the defaults on the SXRDs. In a better environment, properly adjusted, the SXRD looks better, and you have a much better response time when watching fast-motion images.

In a store this makes sense though. Get them in a home and things change significantly.

This thread concerns me, as a couple weeks ago I purchased the A2000. Won't have it running till next weekend when I move. Local ISF Calibrator told me the Sony's tend to run towards the green side outta the box. Can it be adjusted?

Was your green blob instance something outta ordinary?

The Green blobs happen mostly on the SXRD1/ I dont believe the A2000 have the issue.

I'd check out the A2000 thread.

the sonys tend to run hot on the greens for sports and things of that sort just kind of the direction they have taken for their demographic but not to be confused with the green blob issues

as far as the time period goes for the return policy you have a couple of options switch tvs now or just wait until the tv you want comes out and then process the replacement. if your replacement plan is up soon extend it and then process it when you are ready to replace it
