TH-42PWD6uy, 3-4 years old. Hooked up to DirecTV TiVo box via S-Video cable, going through H/K receiver.

I haven't seen it yet, but my wife has seen it twice in 2 days and that's enough to make me nervous.

She turned it on first thing in the morning when it's been on standby overnight. For the first 3-5 seconds the picture (people in the picture) shift from flourescent green to pink as if it's trying to find the right color balance, then after 3-5 seconds it kicks in.

Everything seems normal for the rest of the day, even when turning it off/on during the day - so it seems like it happens when it's first turned on after being "cold" over night.

Sounds to me like it might the beginning of a more serious problem.
Can someone please help me figure out what might be wrong
- is there a way to find error codes on this model
- is there a way to test a potential problem with colors
- could it be a power supply issue

Any fingers pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Candyass

I would try connecting the TiVo box directly to the TV and see if it makes a difference. It is possible the receiver switching is at fault. Do you have component or HDMI input available? If so try those connections direct from the box.

I'm with dsmith, try to isolate the problem to either the source component, the cabling, or the plasma. I've spent hours chasing my tail trying to troubleshoot something only to find out that a cable was loose. My 5UY when mounted on a cantilever mount used to be notorious for the power cable wiggling loose. My wife would complain "the plasma's dead, AGAIN!"

Plugged it back in and it was fine.

Thanks guys. I haven't been able to see the problem myself yet even though I'm the one who's turned it on the past couple of days. I checked all the cables and nothing unusual there. I'll keep a close eye on the details...was plasma turned on first, then receiver or vice versa, is DirectTV always connected when it happens, or also with DVD being active...etc. Hopefully I'll find out that it's not the plasma...but something else going on, or better yet, it was a temporary fluke based on poor cable connections.

Thanks for your help,
