I've pored over this forum and the XBox 360 thread hoping for answers to this Q, and have not been able to find an answer. In my system, I pass all video singals through a Lumagen HDQ video processor because my projector (Epson 1080p) really sucks at upscaling and deinterlacing.
I believe that all HD-DVD content (at least those currently available) are encoded on the disc at 1080p. Is this correct? (I think the standard actually allows for any resolution, but the industry has not bothered making lower resolution discs). The problem is caused by the XBox only outputting 1080i over component, 1080p over VGA, and not having HDMI support. So the only choice for 1080p output is VGA.
Assuming it is correct that "native" for any HD-DVD disc is 1080p, then that means if I use component, then my 360 will interlace the signal, and then my video processor will then de-interlace it. Correct? Is this really a problem or no?
If a problem, how big?
My adversion to the VGA cable is that I have heard that color reproduction out of the 360 using that cable is not as nice as compared to the component (although that could be corrected with some elbow grease using the processor), and that it would mean another investment in the cable.
Any comments would be appreciated, guys (gals, too).
