I am just wondering since then when we don't have HD, I look down at local channels
and always think the other premium channels offer better things to watch. Now we
got HD, I barely watch the premium channels except for HD shows about 85% of the
time. I started watching Jay Leno, CSI, and hell even American Idol. Will you still watch
local channels if it wasn't for HD?

I find myself watching too many shows on TV just because they are in HD.

I watch maybe 2 hours at most of SD programming a week. So no, I won't watch local channels in SD.

I base my viewing preferences on program content. If a good program is only in SD I watch in SD.

I find with HD on our 96' screen (AE700 front proj) I actually watch LESS TV -and nearly all of it HD. I believe the qualitative improvement in for example watching a great HD movie or an HD sporting event is such an immersive and satisfying experience - one actually desires to watch less TV overall

Note when one watches a film in a commercial movie theater - its generally a 2 hour event, and often one feels a bit overwhelmed if the movie is excellent - and I think with HD and the large screen - one gets that same sort of feeling -and therefore needs less viewing events in total

Great argument to use for one's spouse in fact - better quality - less TV

I'm an equal opportunity TV viewer, and only watch what I deem good, and not what is HD or not.

I watched mostly locals, HBO and Showtime before I had HD. I got an HDTV because almost everything I watched was available in HD and I still watch mostly locals, HBO and Showtime.

Same here. Of course, sometimes I have to watch HD shows in SD since I haven't upgraded to an HD DVR. If I can't watch it live, it's going to be in SD.

I watch as little SD as possible now. I do have to watch occasionally just because of the shows I like are not in HD but HD comes 1st more and more.

That depends. I certainly wouldn't be watching any DiscoveryHD stuff if it wasn't HD, but locals have too much good content on them to not be ignored. I judge my viewing based on content. Currently, DirecTV doesn't carry my CW affiliate in HD, but I still watch Everybody Hates Chris, Veronica Mars, and Supernatural, because they're just too good to not be watched.

I think one might say while one watches regular TV, one experiences HD - that is the difference

I've had a Mitsu 55" RPTV since 2002, so, unless it is an exceptionally good broadcast HD in and of itself isn't the compelling reason to watch a show.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer EVERYTHING to be in HD, were it possible.

However, I watch BSG on SciFi and don't wait for the HD rebroadcast on UHD. I'll be thrilled when USA goes HD, but for now Monk, Psych, the 4400 and the Dead Zone are all on the Series Link to do list.
