Has anyone had any success with the latest beta (dated 01-23-2007) release for the Oppo 981?
Version: MVer: 05.00.01.07 Batch: 0T-0122

I used Nero burning ROM and Alcohol 120%, made sure the discs were finalized. Both discs, when attempting to upgrade gives me a "checksum error".

Oppo is closed today (Saturday). Has anyone been able to upgrade this beta firmware successfully?

Thanks.

I had no problem burning it to a disc and installing it back in late January or so. You might want to review the instructions for burning on Oppo's beta page (http://www.oppodigital.com/dv981hd/dv981hd-firmware-0t-0122.html) or the firmware update portion of my 981HD review (http://www.prillaman.net/oppo981_review.html#firmware). You want to make sure that you burn the file as an ISO.

^ Looks like it helped. Nero is finicky. I used Alcohol 120% and set it to a slow speed burn 1x and it worked exactly as the instructions state.

Thanks.

So, how do I verify what FW my 981 has?

Thanks.

With the player stopped, just press "OSD" on your remote and it should tell you the firmware version. You can compare it to the website and see what you have.

I am not sure what to set the Manual Colorspace (latest firmware upgrade)selection to.

Try the free program "Burn at Once" to burn your ISO disks. It works better than Nero.
I have been using it for years.

Thanks. Turns out my 981 came w/ 05.00.01.07 Batch 0-1227B already installed. I think it's build 12/06 BTW.
