My setup details
TV: Toshiba 50HM66 with cable card
Receiver: Yamaha HTR5750
Cable Provider: Insight Communications
I am having a problem that when I am watching HDTV via my cable card, the audio through my receiver will drop out for 1 second every couple minutes. During the dropout, if I watch the receiver's display I can see the screen momentarily go blank and then come back on.
I don't have any issues when I only play the audio through the TV's built in speakers. I also do not have any problems with audio during playback of HDTV via the over the air antenna. I have tested using a different optical cable between my TV and receiver. I also tested using a different optical input on the receiver. I have no issues with audio when using the same optical input for DVD playback. The problem seems to be with my Cable Provider, the cable card or something inside the TV. I don't know how to further troubleshoot. Do I need to upgrade the TV's software for the Cable Card processing? Does anyone have any ideas?
