Hi everyone, I am drywalling today and I have one question. On two of my walls I am doubling up the drywall because the existing drywall is pretty beat up. Do you suggest glueing the second layer, or screwing the second layer in?
Thanks

I believe most screw the second layer. Use a 2" drywall screw for layer number two. If using green glue, then definitely screw the second layer.

I've screwed in each layer that I've put up. Simply gluing drywall to together isn't the greatest idea. That paper can separate pretty easily.
If you're going to go through all the bother of adding in a second additional layer, by all means green glue it. The difference in isolation performance between two layers of drywall versus two layers of drywall with green glue between is quite substantial.

I am not really doing it for sound isolation. Its just to cover up an old existing wall. It is in a basement against an exterior concrete wall.
Thanks for all the info..screwing it is.

Theoretically you could just use nails, but I've dealt with far too many nail pops to ever try those things. Screws just hold real nice, plus they're far easier to deal especially if you've got the square drive kind and a cordless drill.
