When you view a TV (esp rear projections) at stores such as BB and CC it really helps if you angle the TV 10-20 degrees (maybe more) off center on the stand.

I found that the 61" Samsung DLP I was looking at at CC looked horrible. I couldn't even really appreciate the picture. The other TVs were bad but not as much as the Samsung.

Then I spun the TV a few degrees of axis. It was like looking at a whole different TV. The picture was 200% brighter and more crisp.

The cause of the problem was the row of plasma TVs directly behind the Samsung were putting an incredible glare on the screen that only disappeared when the TV was rotated out of their line of sight.

Try it. It might make comparing TVs a little easier the next time you go out TV hunting.

I worked at best buy for 7 years so whenever I go into a store I'm always jacking with their stuff. I'm sure it doesn't make them happy but it allows me to try as you did to get lighting/glare/reflections off the screen inquestion as well as tweaking the settings of the said tv.

I got kicked out of a store once because I set up an RP set by eye and it looked better than the far more expensive plasma and DLP sets beside it. LOL.

Why have the remote attached to the TV if you don't want people to use them?
