For those that missed it or had their DVRs cut off short because of wrong guide times, here's your next chance to catch it.

You'd think they'd run stuff like this people actually would want to see more often...

Hopefully the audio is better this time.

Hopefully the audio is better this time.Better than what? If you're expecting them to fix their screwed up pseudo 5.0 mix you're expecting too much.

If anyone plans to record it, make sure to add 10-15 minutes to the recording time. It runs over the 2 hours it's allotted in the schedule.

Not that anybody doesn't know how it ends. :p

That was horrible. Good thing I remembered the ending:)

according to imdb the movie has a running time of 124 minutes and a tv runtime of 130 minutes (whatever that means). are you guys saying that the last time uhd showed it it just ended at the 120 mark? i don't see it in my guide yet to see what the air time says for the 14th

Why it took them 4 month to rerun it I'll never know, but apparently this is another one of those "only run every so often" movies. I just don't understand that. They have other movies like that. I recorded Bordello of Blood last month which ran only once and never showed up again.

Jaws was last shown on 1/27, so it will be less than 3 months.

Bump.

Just a reminder. Coming up again in a few days.

Thanks for the reminder. I question how much better it can really look, and UHD has those annoying commercial breaks (I think) but I'll set my HD DVR for it anyway. I can can always erase it.

NOT during movies! UHD films are commerical FREE! :)

I must be thinking of HD Net Movies then. Their Blade Runner: Director's Cut looked awesome but it was butchered with commercial breaks. You simply can't cut to a commercial right in the middle of Blade Runner. There ought to be a law against it. No trial, just right to execution . . . . . . by head crushing!

Yes they should all have to face Roy!

JAWS rules!

I have to purposely NOT watch it when it is on, or I get sucked into a 2 hour vortex every time.

The old "I'm just going to watch this scene" doesn't work.

HDNet runs all movies uninterrupted. TNT-HD runs them with commercials and edited for tv, usually in their hideous stretch-o-vision.

And don't forget, as several of us have mentioned, to add about 10 minutes to your recording time since the film runs past the 2 hours it's allotted.

how can you guys watch this channel with what they do with the sound? That is too much of an anoyance for me to listen. They can show nice PQ but the sound always means something to me...so no UHD viewing on my end...I still check every now and then but nothing with the sound issues have been corrected....

My DD5.1 indicator on my receiver lights up whenever I watch BSG on UHD. Where's the beef?

My DD5.1 indicator on my receiver lights up whenever I watch BSG on UHD. Where's the beef? His beef is that UHD forces everything to DD5.1 regardless whether its DD5.1 or not. Most receivers do not allow you to process DD5.1 so in order to get around this you have to listen to analog outs of your cable/sat boxes, etc.

At least BSG is in proper 5.1DD, and a few movies, and really that's all I care about.

If it wasn't UHD then I know it just had to be HDNM, maybe just HD Net.
This airing of Bladerunner did have commercial interruptions. They weren't commercials of products, just upcoming movies and programs. It ticked me off to no end. The PQ was stunning, especially given that the movie is rather old. Those dang commercial breaks ruined it though.

What UHD does do on occasion is show pop-ups, but it's more their logo akin to what HDNet and what the other channels do, and they stopped doing the "sponsored by" stuff for the most part.

I don't know where you saw that on Bladerunner, but you could have seen BR on HDNet or maybe on one of the satellite channels like Voom, and I have no idea if they air commericals on Voom or not as I have Comcast.

Wait, what was this thread about again?

Blade Runner was on HDNET. No commercials of course.

Haven't you noticed that for most shows on UHD, the source is 2.0 and when they broadcast it as 5.1, the sound that should be in the center comes from the side speakers. It's very annoying and unlistenable.

Most broadcasters are capable of broadcasting 2.0 as 5.1 and retain the proper positioning of the sound. UHD is completely incapable of this. I can't believe UHD isn't aware of this. Either they can't afford the equipment to do this correctly, they have the equipment but don't know how to use, or they just don't give a damn. Yet they continue to call themselves a leader in HD. Excuse me while I regurgitate.

I think INHD did run Blade Runner, and they might have showed commercials, but I don't watch movies on that network since they tend to crop them.

I don't know what you're talking about. All I know is that when I watch 'BSG' and 'Firefly' on UHD, the DD5.1 soundtrack is correctly encoded. Dialog comes out of the center speaker and the surrounds are active. To say that "they're incapable of doing it correctly" is disingenuous at best. I am in no way displeased with the soundtracks from the UHD programs I watch that I hear on my equipment (and it's pretty good equipment).

BSG is correctly encoded for 5.1DD, but Firely is UHD's normal fake 5.0DD just like most of their other fake 2.0 shows. They force all 2.0/2.1 encoded shows to 5.0DD all speaker surround. It's terrible, they've been doing this since the beginning and they don't care.

I say they don't care and are aware of it because BSG S3 started off being broadcast wrong at fake 5.0DD until 10 or so episodes in, a lot of people complained and they fixed it. So they care enough about that particular show to fix it, but about nothing else.
