I have 3 days till my HD56FN97 (JVC 56 inch 1080p) set arrives, can I get some advise please? I have many years of experience with HTPC's but this is my first Micro display. What I am interested in is the do's and don't's of his kind of setup. I want to pass a perfect 1080p signal (1:1 pixel mapped) to the set, I don't mind some overscan as theatertek and Sagetv can correct for that. I will be feeding the set with my 7600gt card, will i need to use powerstrip(does it even work with these cards?) or will the built in tools do the job. Can someone point me to a test image for 1:1 pixel mapping? any advise would be appreciated.....thanks guys
P.S. Just as a side note to all the RCA hatters out there, my 52 inch crt has given me 3 years of perfect service with way over use and abuse, maybe I just got lucky......

The NVIDIA Drivers have overscan compensation and custom timing capability so that you can get the appearance of 1:1 pixel mapping if required without using Powerstrip tounderscan your output. If your TV has a VGA connection it probably does not overscan like it does with a comnponent or HDMI connection.
If you have no trouble seing the windows task bar then your TV is not overscanning its inputs.

xxilikedirtxx,
Start with the default Nvidia drivers, no Powerstrip. I agree with walford - Nvidia has come a long way in the past few years.
Since you're familiar with CRT, you would want Powerstrip or some other means to really tweak your refresh rate (other than 48/59/60/72).
That JVC display is sweet - have fun!

The JVC does not take 1080p over VGA I think so you will have to hook up through HDMI or component so make sure you have the right cables handy. You will have some overscan probably but you should be able to tell how much by what is missing on the desktop when you first start up, such as the taskbar being cut off.

Yea you would think that? But when I searched for info I found more on here when it came to setting it up on a RPTV.

Got to the download page for the NVIDIA driver release you have installed and download the user's guide and/or the control center user's guide. It will contain the steps required for you to apply overscan compensation.
