I went and profiled a bunch of computer monitors and TVs with my Monaco OptixXR calibrator:

Here, you can see the gamut and grayscale correction needed for:
iBook G4, IBM T43, iMac 17" & 20", Dell 2001FP, Toshiba CRT TV, and Samsung & Panasonic Plasma TVs.
All devices were calibrated (if possible) for best grayscale performance prior to profiling.

In my small sample, laptops (iBook & T43) had the smallest gamuts, and required the most grayscale correction.
Desktops were generally quite good, and most exceeded sRGB gamut except in the blue.
Plasma TVs have awesome gamuts, matching Adobe RGB in Red & Blue, and only falling short in Green.

Another interesting measurement was one of maximum brightness.
IBM T43 50 cd/m2
iBook G4 80 cd/m2
iMac 17" 190 cd/m2
iMac 20" 240 cd/m2
Panny Plasma 110 cd/m2 (picture = 0)
[I neglected to record the others]

Make what you will of these measurements. :)
