I could use a little help with selecting a DVD player. I want one that has a multi-disc carousel, it will used for both music and movies. I am not interested in anything that is Blu-Ray or HD-DVD right now, I don't have a TV to take advantage of it. I will probably be purchasing one of them in a year or two when prices drop. I would be putting a lot of emphasis on it playing music as well as movies, when I do get a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player it will then be used only for music.
I was considering either a Denon or Yamaha. I went to a local shop and one of the salesmen was leading me towards an Integra DPC-7.7. I can't find any reviews on it anywhere. Any thoughts one way or the other? Any recommondations would be appreciated. I do want to stay in the $300-400 dollar range. Thanks ahead of time.
Are you an audiophile? Do you really want the best sound possible with DVD-A and SACD? Do you even need that? The Integras are pricey- maybe you can get a good deal though. Here's a link to one: INTEGRA REVIEW (http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_11_3/integra-dpc-85-universal-player-9-2004.html). It's an older model I think, but it gives you an idea of what they are all about. If you just need something to listen to regular CDs and SACD and see dvds upscaled to near HD- I would think a Sony DVD changer would be fine. The Sony is known for good sound quality with a decent PQ. Be careful with the Sony DVP-NC85H- it's a great player but I've heard it doesn't do random play on all discs at once, which is the point of a random 5 disc player if you ask me. It will random play one disc at a time though- big FUBAR by Sony on this model imo. If this isn't important to you, I hear it's a great player. I have the single disc version of this player and it's a good machine with great audio, but it's not DVD-A capable.
Good luck!

I don't know if I could really consider myself as an Audiofile. I certainly like from time-to-time sit down and just listen to some music to relax or whatever. I have never used either DVD-A or SACD and probably never will, so that is not a major concern. I will certainly take a look at the Sony's. Thanks for the feedback.
If you are going to use the audio DACs of your receiver (i.e., use a digital connection between the player and the receiver), then the player is just a transport, and they will all sound the same. In general, the higher the price, the better the audio DACs. You might want to look for a used Pioneer Elite 59ai or Denon 2900 if you want to use the audio DACs of the player (i.e., the analog outs to the receiver).
