View Full Version : 2x Sunfire True Subwoofer EQ or 1 EQ Signature?
Auditioned a True subwoofer EQ for a little bit today and must say I was very impressed. It easily pressurized a 4000 cu ft room with bass, and even impressed my mom, haha.
The question is, should I buy one True Sub EQ signature or 2x True Sub EQs?
I'd be able to afford 2 True sub EQs immediately or the signature immediately, but which will go deeper and louder? Will 2 True sub EQs be able to atleast match or surpass a single signature?
Thanks.
One Sunfire Signature EQ will dig a little deeper and have about the same output as dual Sunfire EQ subs(Mark IV with an EQ).
I would go with one EQ Sig,unless you need to wrestle with some nasty room acoustics.
The Sunfire Sig. EQ is a very good HT sub. I have one and it can shake it good, for music if you cut 60hz and lower, works great too.
In a few minutes you may see posts GET SVS. ;) If you like what you heard get the Sunfire EQ Sig.
mojomike 03-24-07, 11:24 PM When in doubt, go for the better one, in this case the Signature. If you can trust the specs, one Signature should play as loud as two EQ's and will go deeper. Later on, you an always double up on the Sigs if you need to.
Alright then, I think I will go for the EQ signature.
Another question. The position for the sub I am thinking of is above me and my listening position, about 3 ft below my 8ft ceiling in the corner and is 3 ft away from listening position.
Would this yield good results, or would a position 6 ft behind me be better? I won't be able to corner load it in the 6 ft away postion though..
mojomike 03-24-07, 11:55 PM Sorry Spezzy, but those location results are too difficult to predict. Too many variables. You may have to experiment. Try the sub sitting on top of a ladder close to the position you mentioned a see how it sounds.
Another question.. Will the EQ Signature work good with a 80hz Xover?
Also, how low can it go?

I should have said realistically.. Like Definitive, they say the Supercube 1 or something will go to 13hz with a 10" driver. Been trying to look for some more reviews with real world results..
Hey Spezzy, if I remember correctly the sunfires roll off slightly above 60Hz. So, if you can keep your crossover low (depending on mains) then you will do better.
Also, the Sig should be able to get into the upper teens pretty well.
About the frequency ponse claims made by Sunfire. They quite on target,in fact when I purchased the Mark II (second revision TrueSub)I was very much in doubt it could reproduce anything at 20Hz(18Hz claimed lower limit).
Guess what it does, and well. The THD is higher but our ears(should I say LF THD perception)very tolerant to very deep bass THD. It is inaudible
This said the Sunfire EQ claimed 16Hz is on target with what the sub can do in a normal room, and with corner loading very realistic.
Alright, thanks for all the input guys! I'm going to go to a local dealer and pick one up :D.

Post your impressions when you get it. :)
With these subs corner loading works great, with little SQ degradation.
Those little buggers do produce lots low energy alright,I use to play it at moderate level jump in the shower down the hall about 20ft or so,and it would feel like some one was pushing in the door!
