Hi everyone,

This is my first post, and I'll admit right now that I'm very new to the world of HD, although I'm a life-long techie, so I'm picking all this new stuff up fairly quickly.

Anyway, I bought a demo-model Mitsubishi WD52627 on clearance at my CompUSA store a few months back for $1400, and I've been really happy with it... except for one thing. Since day one, my wife and I have both noticed that the picture seems to alternate between bright and dim, depending on what's onscreen.

I've read enough to understand that it's probably the "Deep Field Imager" that's driving us crazy, and I'd really like to disable this "feature," but I'm not sure how. I downloaded what I think is the correct service manual, but when I enter the code 2, 4, 7, 0 at the TV Menu screen, I don't seem to get the same set of options that I see in the guide, and I don't see any way to disable the Deep Field Imager.

If anyone can help me figure this out, I'll be really grateful!

Thanks in advance,

Huxley

Anyone? I'm afraid my little ol' question is going to be lost in the flood of topics...

Thanks!

Huxley

To disable the deep field, you press the VIDEO button until you see the words deep field on the screen. Then use the adjust left/right buttons to select OFF.
Simple as that.

There are 3 modes: ON , OFF , DEMO

Hopefully you can disable it but I am having a 62 inch mitsu exchanged tomorrow for a Sony for the very same issue. Mine is the Wd 62531 and I've only had it for 10 days. It bothers me too much and I've read other issues on here with other mitsubishi's as well. I think it might be part of the "smart iris" not working properly but it is too noticeable for me to live with.

Unfortunately, my model doesn't seem to have that option in the Video menu (unless you mean to hold the button down to trigger some hidden setting I don't know about) - I'm still pretty much stumped!

Thanks for the help - hopefully I'm on the right track...

Thanks,

Huxley
