Great time for the ever present low volume on NBC's NHL coverage at least here in NYC and the 4x3 frame hovering over the grainy picture. Maybe they'll get it right today. I wish.

I'll be watching, but in glorious SD. I am in Boston's DMA, and will have that game on HD on NBC. I get the Rangers-Islanders on NHL CI via D* but in SD.

It is the first time a game between these two teams has meant something this late in the season.

Go Rangers!

lovely, the audio sounds like piss pouring into a hollow tin can. You can count on this every weekend NHL game from the production staff at NBc Sports.

What is this MONO audio. :)

Well, I was watching this game here in South Florida, but they just switched to SD coverage of the Boston v. Pittsburgh game. :(

Getting the HD version of the Bruins v. Pens game via StarChoice, but not the NY game.

Boston-Pittsburgh is HD on WRC in Washington, SD on WBAL in Baltimore.

Rangers-Islanders HD looks good Buffalo OTA, but they sound is cutting out every minute or so. This seems to always happen at the beginning of NBC NHL broadcasts. Any reason for this?

Only NY State is getting the NY-NY game - everyone else is supposed to the Boston-Pittsburgh

(very dumb NBC..... pushing Crosby on national TV instead of a great game)

Ok, thanks! Where do you get the link for that map?

That stupid, I know they make these decisions before the season begins, but the Bruins-Pens game is a nothing game, wheras the NY-NY game has crucial significance. Can't they make changes to the schedule now that NBC is aware of what games mean what?

I am getting the Rangers/Islanders game on both WMTV-Madison and WTMJ-4 Milwaukee in HD. I just started watching in the 3rd period, maybe b/c the Pens game is 5-0.

TSN-HD has also switched over to the NY game. WTVJ Miami has also gone to the NY game, in SD.

Chicago and Rockford, IL have done the same thing, but for a while, they had NY on the analog, and Boston on the digital. Now it's NY on all channels in SD.

P.S. The Boston game was SD all the way in Chicago, but Rockford had the HD feed.

WNCN Raleigh switched over before the other game was over but they never change it over to HD. god. (they do this every week)

NBC switches the national feed to the NY game so I go to CI to watch the Pens & guess what....I am blacked out because my local affiliate is broadcasting the Pens-Boston game which has been switched to the NY game. No way no how can I watch the Pens game that I have paid for & am entitled to. I can however watch the NY game on any one of 3 channels.

When my local affiliate changed to the NY game...my CI blackout should have been lifted.

A much better game & overtime in NY so I understand the decision to switch but still annoying.

I was having fellow Pens fans over to watch the Bruins in HD, but the feed from the beginning for us was NYR/NYI. I have CI, but obviously it was SD. Really pissed off. It's really hard to be a hockey fan sometimes.

5 in a row for the blushirts. So frustrating to have these games on NBC as opposed to MSG though. They score the winner in OT...Rangers fans are totally pumped...and NBC's like see ya, here's Tiger. Some kind of post game show would be nice. :(

Totally agree...not even a mention about the Pens game that 90% of the country was watching before they switched. I can't see a network treating the NFL or MLB that way. They go to all the trouble to obtain the rights to broadcast these games & then act like no one wants to watch it anyway.

Well NBC paid a lot for Golf as well..... and the game did run late.... and more people do want to watch Tiger than they want to watch hockey.....

I understand the dilemma NBC found themselves in, however, a couple of weeks ago they had a similar problem. During an overtime hockey game they cut away to the upcoming golf event several times to make sure the viewers knew it was coming on. Why not at least reference the hockey games once they do go to golf? It is reasonable to believe alot of the those hockey viewers were still watching.

The NHL should be outraged at how their fans were treated by NBC yesterday.

Cutting away from the primary game for any reason infers that there are no team fans watching....only viewers. People in Pittsburgh & Boston actually did miss some of their game...and when it did come back on, it was in SD. Can you see the NFL tolerating that treatment?

CI viewers who wanted to see the Pens game were also out of luck when they made the change due to CI blackouts already in affect.

The only good thing that came out of this was that NBC cut to a terrific game with great intensity.

NBC should forget about the regional concept & show only one game.

I'm outraged at the NHL for not sucking it up and making a deal w/ ESPN even if it were for less money. The exposure would be worth the loss. The NBC deal only yields money for the NHL once they recoup the production costs, I doubt the NHL is getting much if any cash form that deal.

You are right...I found out this morning the NHL basically gave these games to NBC. And it shows. They treated the game like it was downhill skiing or something. (No offense meant to downhill skiing fans)

The NHL received no money from NBC for the games. It's the only sport here in America that declines in the ratings every year. The NHL players are the lowest paid professional athletes. One day the players and management will realize that the big money comes from TV contracts. And in this P.C. world, that will NEVER happen until the NHL wises up and bans fighting from hockey.

It's as simple as that.

Fortunately hockey isn't going to ban fighting anytime soon.

I'm a Rangers Mets and Jets fan..(don't hate other teams) if there playing against my 3 teams obviously im rooting for my team, but I'm not like most fans that say they "hate" the yanks or devils or giants.... there NY then i like them and i'll root for them to do good.

anyway. COMCAST CABLE NJ... I get rangers on 201 or 206, devils on 206 or 207 and mets on mainly 201.

It would be Excellent if they would make a Specific CH for SNY, MSG, FSN etc so we don't have to keep hopeing or jumping around.

another thing is on my MENU guide.. alot of the times it won't say NHL - Rangers vs ..etc... it will say golf or something stupid and when i turn to it, the damn rangers are on.

does this annoy anyone else? I hope that FiOS does the right thing and puts out dedicated NY sports ch's cause this is pretty annoying.

Most games don't have fights anymore. Most of the fights that do happen are just brief wrestling matches.

I had recorded this game. I listened to parts of the first 2 periods on Sirius. When I went to watch the game, I just watched the goals in the first 2 periods and wanted to watch the third period.

Oh, too bad for you. We're switching to a game between 2 mediocre teams that you hate.
