I've just starting my dediacted HT in an unfinished basement and with the logical floorplan, the finished space will be 27x12. with an 8 foot drop ceiling. The door will be on the side on one 27' wall close to the screen wall and can't be moved elsewhere. I need some opinions.

1. In a space this size, can I use risers to make 3 rows of seating? I used the calculator and it seems to work if my screen in @ 38" off the ground.

2. I'm planning on a 1080 projector and could use some thoughts on a reasonably priced one.

3. Any thoughts on ceiling tiles for this room would be greatly appreciated as well.

How tall of risers were you looking at? Three rows when you only have 8' to start with can be a bit tricky. Where is the door into the place? It is one thing to have to duck a little to get into the front row, it is another matter to have to duck through a door to get in and out.

The door is near the screen so that will have the full 8' ceiling . According to the calculator, I could use a 14" riser and then an 7" on the second row. I know that would make the 3rd row tight but I am limited because of ductwork. I suppose I could box out the duct and then I'm gain another 4-5 " in the third row, except for the box out. section, as the ductwork runs in the middle of the ceiling....the length of the room
