Is there any way to make fluorescent lights less harsh? Our basement was built with them and I'd like to see if there is a way to make them work in a movie/gameroom or should I just put in recessed.
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks BroncoSport 03-25-07, 11:06 AM Is it the color of the light that bothers you??? You can buy lamps that are of different light "colors" ie blueish to brilliant white. In fact Wal-Mart has diffent tubes and they are marked with their light temp (6500K). Scott aegisx 03-25-07, 11:24 AM It just seems too harsh and office like... BroncoSport 03-25-07, 02:36 PM Yeah it would seem that you have very cool (old style) tubes. Keeping in mind that it will never be the same as a warm tone incandescent, you could probally excange them for a warmer fluorescent bulbs. Look at Wal-Mart. Scott thegeek 03-25-07, 03:09 PM I buy the "nvison" brand CFLs from Home Depot. These are their store brand (used to be Commercial Electric). They come in three color temperatures, and the warm tone ones are pretty good. I've got a few in uplight fixtures and you can't tell they're fluorescents. aegisx 03-25-07, 04:56 PM Hmm, I may give those a shot, thanks. Lots of people use our lighting in their home theaters. http://www.lightmyworld.com |
