I just finally got the ticket girl in the window. She will get real hair, a hand that holds a ticket and some different make up but what do you guys think ? Recognize the jacket ?

That's pretty awesome! I would like something like that in my theater, just scared it might scare the misses or children at nighttime. Looking good though. How deep is it?

Yea, it is little creepy. Two feet deep.

Art,

It's all about the details - you should know. It's an awesome touch for your HT - I hope someday I can visit, especially while you still have CRT ;)

You want creepy? Make the ticket hand animatronic... like the classic Magic Hand Bank:

I'm not that good. I love doing stuff like this though. I am thinking of another get together here in the fall so watch the HT meets forum in the late summer.

Anyway ,my daughter Stephanie on the right is amost identical to the manequin in size and height The jacket from my 2005 HT meet fit perfectly. :)

I agree ! I'm actually going to use an inexpensive wig I have and glue hair on top of the hair she has so it will end up like her hair is still pulled straight back. A wig on her head would by itself likely just ruin the look.It will take some work but I've done plenty of scale model work that has more demanding detail.

That is pretty neat and I could see it freaking some out (in a good way) if you dress her up well.

As for the modeling pics of Stephanie...gotta love what makeup and airbrushing can do (note I am being sarcastic)....She has freckles and stuff naturally then poof, there they go and disappear in the touched up pics.

Note I am not saying she looks worse than the pics or anything. Just merely stating how touched up pics get rid of things and they look so fake. I truly hate makeup and especially airbrushed/touched up pics.

BTW I think she looks better in the "real" pics than in the headshot type pics. I'm a fan of natural looks.

Steph has several assets. One is a porcelain looking clear white skin (she is a red head) and no freckles. She is five feet nine inches tall and has gorgeous legs and behind. Although in the shots of her head she is heavily made up , they didn't use photoshop.

Nice job on the booth, Art!

If I had one of those I'm sure I'd scare the crap out of myself every time I came out of theater - have a couple of drinks, get relaxed and forget she's there. :D

I'd love to have a booth, but I'm still not sure where to put it - I had the perfect spot, but with with movie memorabilia display and shelves instead.

Thanks Randy ! I think the booth adds a lot and more with a gal in it but having it in a corner isn't perfect. It did allow me to give it depth without taking any more space out of the stairwell however.

I get startled a little each time I come up the stars still.

I need to light her face from inside the booth yet and need some suggestions for low voltage perhaps LED lights that are very directional and small.

Art, I recently picked up some battery-powered LED "puck" lights from Costco. I think a three-pack was $12 or so.

They can be mounted with included adhesive-backed Velcro pads, or there's a keyhole slot for mounting with the included screw.

They're similar to the Sylvania DOT-it product (http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-Self-Adhesive-Bright-White-Silver/dp/B000CNB6VW), but these had two brightness settings - press the center once for full brightness, press it again to dim it a bit, and press it again to turn it off. Also, with the Costco version, the entire housing spins and the center can be pivoted to directionally aim the light.

They're powered by AAA batteries. They don't put out a ton of light, but that might be just what you're looking for in lighting up just her face.

Hope this helps,
ND

ND,
Thanks for the link. I have a switch that controls an outlet inside the booth. I was looking for a light that could be mounted inside and controlled by that switch. I had hoped that it could be directed onto her face from above and in front but within the booth. I tried a small track light but it was way to large and threw light alll over the inside of the booth. The booth is quite shallow but having her brightly lit along with the velvet lined space should help mask that fact.

Next I'm going to duplicate Angela's hand holding a ticket to replace the hand she now has.

Got a close-up of the head/hair?

Duplicating the hand with dental products? :)

Need to put in a motion sensor, so when someone walks past she says something ;)

No close up but I can get one. The hair looks much better when lit from above. I just had to say that five fours of that was enough. :o

I realized last night that I loved wax museums as a child and that she has a look that brought back memories.

The motion sensor is a good idea I want to get the lighting inside the booth and the hand done first.

Yes , the hand will be done with alginate. I did it with the children's hands and feet when they were babies.

I don't think there's anything creepy about a father being proud of his daughters and wanting to show them off. Art's heart is in the right place. Despite having a totally kick-ass home theater, I'd wager to say his proudest achievement is his daughters!

No, it's just mounted in corner. I could have gotten a little more depth by setting it out a little more or tearing out the wall behind to get the stud cavity depth but it became unnecessary. :) That's mainly why the thread was given it's name. :D

Think about it - this forum is filled with 20-40 year old guys. Some guy posts a pic of his daughter showing some leg, a creeper says she looks good and then the father posts some modeling pics of her.

Maybe it's just me. But posting pics of your daughter for other guys to look at? Kinda Joe Simpson-like.

Talk about taking a crap all over a thread. There is nothing wrong with anything he posted. They're head shots for cris' sakes

Maybe you are projecting your perverted views on them, and trying to cover it up by proclaiming a moral high ground (for an example, see Ted Haggard)

Stephanie will be 24 in a few days , is on her own, has been on this forum dozens of times in various pictures of my get togethers, since she has been a hostess the last four years. She just started modeling less than a year ago and I'm quite proud of her work so far. She has many many picture on the various photograhpers sites significantly more revealing of her physique but her face is beautiful I think. All of her pictures are on her my space pages (where I extracted them), her mother's art web site as well.

I have six children, love and care for them , I don't get your position on this. Honestly, I can only think that you are indeed projecting or think you own some sort of moral high ground that I've violated.

If you believe posting those well done shots of my daughter so that people I've interacted with around here for many years can share with me my pride in her is a bad thing , then I think you are the one who is creepy... really. :(

I want to thank all of you great guys and gals for the kind comments regarding my ticket window. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that I posted it since I enjoyed making it am proud of it and hope it has something of interest that others might take back to their theaters.

I know most of you have known me a very long time. I will post a few pictures later of how thinks were built including the Deco features.

Stephanie was over for Easter and I took an impression and cast her hand to replace the mannequin's. As I looked at it I need to do it over the fingers are too tight together and it doesn't look right as I tried it on the mannequin.

Art,

Just an FYI. This guy, Patrick Wise, does some great work. He does prosthetics, can cast your face as a custom portrait, hands, etc.

My wife commissioned one of his life size "Sculptoons" a few years ago. It's quite life like, with glass eyes, acrylic finger nails etc.

Maybe you could have a likeness of your wife or daughter made for the booth.

Here's his web site: http://www.sculptoons.com/index_001.htm

I had actually thought about casting one of their faces but it is more involved than I wanted to get into.

Most think I went overboard with what I have done as it is. I think I will do something to stand in the theater just for events at some point also.

Excellent link ,thanks ! :)
