Now that the outside is finished its time for the fun stuff. The theater room ended up being 12x17.5 ft.This gives me room for the home office and a family room.I plan to have a TV in the family room, I just cant see watching the morning news in the dark.If you notice in the pictures I already have two sofas in the room. They were too good of a deal to pass up,so I guess I'll just cover them in plastic and push them out of the way as I work. The front sofa is only ten feet from the screen so I may have to rethink going 100 inches although it doesn't seem to bad.

Looks like it's going to be a nice room.

When you say the front sofa is only ten feet from the screen, do you mean the top of the backrest is ten feet from the screen (closer to the actual viewing distance where your eyes will be) or are you talking about the front edge of the sofa where your legs will be?

The reason I ask is because I watch a 100" screen (Carada BW with a Panasonic AE-900 projector) with the front of my sofa only 10 feet from the screen and I don't find 100" to be "too big" at that distance at all. But that also means my head is another 1 1/2 feet further from the screen due to the depth of my sofa.

However, I'm not even sure that viewing the 100" screen would be all that bad even if I moved my sofa forward the 1 1/2 feet either. Bare in mind that a lot of viewing sources won't fully fill that 100" screen (4x3 SD movies/tv, 2.35:1 movies, etc.) and so it won't always be as "big" on the eyes as it may seem before actual use.

Of course, it always comes down to personal taste and whether or not you're the kind of person who typically looks for a seat near the back of the theater rather than the middle or front half, but I just thought I'd pass my own 100" screen experience along.

The distance to the front of the sofa is 9 feet and where your eyes would be is a little over ten feet.Reclining makes it even farther from the screen. The rear sofa is about 17 feet at eye distance. It does make it nice having the seating to play with at this stage,I never would have guessed it would take up that much room. I have seen many theaters on this site that are almost perfect, but I know I will have to make some sacrifices to fit it into the budget, but I really would like that 100 inch screen
