This site (http://code.google.com/p/castcluster/) claims their program will let you watch YouTube videos on your AppleTV, in iTunes and on your video iPod and more.
If anyone tries it, please report back on how it works.

I am not sure about that, but do you know of an application called "TubeSock"? it allows you to rip the movies from the web to a quicktime format that would work with apple tv or at least you could convert it from there.
