I'm looking at calibrating my Xbox 360 over VGA at 1080p and was wondering if there was a place to get test pattern images that can be copied to a thumb drive and then viewed on the 360 for calibration.

I'm specifically looking for patterns to adjust grayscale, color, brightness/contrast, and overscan.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks!

EDIT: Another question...since the 360 upconverts over VGA, if I upconvert DVE @1080p will the calibration be correct for the regular HD games that I'll play?

Go into Google or Yahoo and search for something along the line of "HD test images" or "PLUGE". That's your best bet here.

ron's images.

Who? I know one guy has some TS files but I'm totally clueless as to how I can view them in a slideshow or something similar.

Ron is dr1394 and his thread is here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=570937.

He should have some static images on his web site too.

NOTE: Calibrating to test patterns my not work for Video games, depending on the grayscale levels that the games were mastered to (PC levels are 0 to 255 and video levels are 16 to 235).

I couldn't find any static image files...they are all TS. Not sure what to do with them.

Something else I've been wondering is what does a perfectly calibrated SMPTE color bar pattern look like? I have a new Mitsubishi WD-57831 and it has WAY too many color/tint controls (the six color wheel and the PerfectColor and PerfectTint options). I've read that red on these sets is too high and green is too low...but since I don't know what correct color bars should look like, I can't approximate.

The grayscale is pretty close on these Mits DLP's based upon the reviews, so that shouldn't be too much of a factor. I just don't know what a true, proper color bar display is supposed to look like (and my THX glasses don't seem to help much, maybe it's just the DLP technology).

Thanks again!

the 360 should play the ts files just fine.

You can easily make still images of my Transport Stream test patterns with VLC.

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Just pause and then right click. "Snapshot" will save a .PNG or .JPG of the current frame (the default is .PNG to the "My Pictures" folder). The conversion is to PC levels, so BTB and WTW will be lost.

I burned the image file of the hd dvd compiled test pattern to a dvd+r disc. It does not work in my hd a1 player. It says that there is no disc. What am I doing wrong?
