I began to watch a commercial DVD and the previews were fine, but as soon as the main feature screen came up, the audio crackled loudly and my screen (Samsung HDTV 50" DLP) went green. Normally the screen will be blue when I go to various input sources (my DVD is hooked up via my HDMI input). I can no long play any DVDs, as all I get is a green screen. The DVD player seems to indicate the DVD is playing, but there is no display. The cable TV source works as normal, and the other inputs show blue screens initially as usual. Did my DVD player somehow fry and is history, or is there an easy fix or repair? Thanks.

Try unplugging it for awhile. Mine does lots of odd things but has not done that yet.

I'm having an issue with my HD850. I've had the player for a couple years but I've been doing the upconvert through component cables using the code you have punch in to unlock something. Anyways, I just got a new TV, a Panasonic TH-58PZ700U and I connected the player to the TV through the HDMI. My audio is connected through optical cable to my receiver. The issue I am having is every time I start a movie on the player I get a message at the top of the screen saying my HDMI audio is not supported. How do I get that to go away? I don't even want to be using the HDMI audio because I my receiver doesn't do HDMI. I've looked at all the menus in the player and see nothing to disable the HDMI audio, or anything to say what my audio is outputted on. Is there something on the DVD player to make this stop or is it a setting on my TV to stop the warning message? The sound works fine through the optical cable, just the warning message is annoying when I start a movie. Luckily it goes away after a couple seconds. Thanks.

"HDMI Audio Not Supported" has been a chronic "bug" on the HD931-HD950 series of Samsung DVD players. It happens when you use a projector for your HDMI video output and sound via optical/coaxial SPDIF output. SPDIF pass-thru works great except for a brief flashing message of "HDMI Audio Not Supported". It will happen with every disc and every power ups. There is nothing you can do about it except using this player on a HDMI TV that can do audio via HDMI.

Go into the option menu of the player and turn off "On Screen Messages".
Unfortunately, this option will not save and needs to be done every time the unit is powered on.It will remove that annoying HDMI audio message.
