I have my Xbox360 connnected to my Denon 3805 receiver via component video and optical digital cable. Both Graw and Graw2 trip the receiver into protection mode when low-freq sounds such as tank fire occurs on the Xbox 360. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know of a work-around? Would greatly appreciate any help.

I have a Denon 3805 and GRAW2(through optical) and have never had that happened before. Not quite sure what went wrong?
Do you have the sub level too high on your receiver that's making clip? You may want to try turning the level don on the receiver and turn up the dial on your sub to compensate.

What speakers? Do they have enough resistance for your receiver?

Need more info about your rig:
Running a sub? What type of speakers are you runnng? How is everything hooked up? And does this setup work fine other wise, ie watching movies, listening to music,....
You could have a short. Speaker wires touching and when the bass hits it enough juice to send your Denon in to protection mode. I would check all your speaker wires from end to end and look for a break. Also make sure all your speaker wire is seated correctly on the terminals behind the amp. All it takes is a small strand of wire to touch the opposite terminal and you're hosed.
Thanks everyone. Let me be more specific about my setup. This problem has only occured with Graw and Graw2, and typically when tanks are shooting. I have played PGR and Rainbow6 Vegas with no problems, but neither of these two have tanks. It has never occured in on-line multiplayer co-op mode, only in campaign or mission mode. When it does occur, it will occur again at the same place. To get past it, I have to go to the standard stereo/composite connection and play that way until I am past the areas with the tanks. This is why I think it has something to do with the subwoofer.
My Xbox360 is hooked up to my Denon 3805: video via component, audio via optical digital cable.
Audio: As I stated before, I am not using the Denon amplifiers. The 5.1 analog pre-out (including sub) is connected to a Bel Canto Pre6 multichannel linestage (preamp), which in turn is connected to: Bel Canot mono-blocks for front, Bel Canto stereo amp for back, and powered mirage sub-woofer for sub. The Bel Canto monoblocks are connected to mbl 111's (4 ohm) in front and mirage in-ceiling speakers in back (8 ohm). No center channel.
Video: The Denon switches the component video out to a Screenplay 5700 projector. I am running the Xbox in 720p mode, and the Screenplay downscales to 576p.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks jdant. Let me look into it. I did not know I could adjust my sub level in the receiver. I used the automatice adjustment system in Denon using the mic in my seat position.
