Just curious how many others slammed their controller against the wall in a fit of rage. Did one too many times. Latest while playing Battlefield 2, modern combat during missile silo attack. Gonna start covering mine with bubble wrap.

Yeah, those kids have problems, where the hell is their parents and why do they allow them to be that way without telling them to turn off the dang box?

That being said I have broken one controller on the regular Xbox, though mine was a quite, spontaneous type rage. I had actually thrown it at the wall on multiple occasions but you could recall it with the cable so normally it didn’t hit that hard. Still, those things were surprisingly durable.

Happily my new "don’t throw the 360 controller because it doesn’t have a cable to recall it and I have a nice new HDTV" rule has held. Now if I get really frustrated I switch to another game or just turn the 360 off altogether. Life is better that way.

I'm old and I have come close to flinging the controller across the room more than once.

I've come damn close to destroying my 360 controller...not because the game was hard, but because the d-pad sucks so bad that it didn't register my presses. UMK3 doesn't work with the DOA stick (can't remap the keys), and that d-pad has failed me on countless occasions. Getting the 'don't get hit by dracula as Richter' achievement was made doubly hard thanks to the d-pad and it's 'work when I want to' attitude. I really hope that they release a new controller with a new d-pad.

I stopped pitching controllers when I had to start repairing my own sheetrock damage :)

Haven't tossed a controller since the PS1 days in college...it was either that or punch my roommate in the face for constantly running the money plays in Madden.

I don't destroy controllers any more partly because I am a mature adult, but mostly because controllers are expensive and I don't want to pay to replace them. Plus having to explain to my wife and son how I broke a controller by throwing it at the wall, then pulling it out of the wall and taking it outside and running over it with the car, and then putting it in a pillow case and beating it with a hammer, and then setting it on fire and putting out the fire with my own urine - the whole time while screaming "I pressed the friggin' button!! I pressed the friggin' button!! It didn't do what I told it to do!!" - would not be pleasant.

The last game that made be break a controller was Ninja Gaiden (Alma)---and I didn't do it on purpose I kind of tossed the controller and it broke the A button---after that I realized how expensive they are and this gen they are even more expensive so I wouldn't even think about breaking one.

Broke my 360 controller on Rainbow Six: Vegas ... I hate those two sh!theads that I'm stuck with. They end up blowing my cover or just F'in' in some stupid way and one day I took the remote and threw it and I mean I wound up and launched it straight into the wall. The controller opened up on one side and one of the pieces that rumble ended up dislocated so the controller couldn't snap back in place so I ended up messing with it and finally placed the piece where it belongs and it snapped back in place. However it rumbles a lot more now. Just that one throw did that to my controller LOL

I threw the controller as hard as I could into the couch pillows after they updated Table Tennis and increased the computers ability. Yes, I felt stupid and immature afterwards. I also felt better.LOL.

I've never thrown a controller. But I have to admit that I have been so frustrated at times with some games that the controller started to squeak and groan under my frustrated grip and I had to stop myself before smashing it in my hands.

I never understood the whole throwing thing. My brother used to do it.

Expletives work so much better, and are free.

I just turn the game off. Refocus on something that matters.

Now at my day job (where I get paid to get angry), there ARE things that I want to throw ...And I curse out loud to the software. The non-tech people really think I'm crazy... but whatever, those people think their computer is broken when the monitor is off. I can get frustrated easily at work.

Only once. After playing video games since I was six or seven years old it happened when I was in my twenties. My friend had been kicking my ass at NBA Street all night using Dirk Nowitski. I finally had him on the ropes and then Dirk F'n Nowitski hits a ridiculous three point shot to win the game...

I threw my PS2 controller to the floor as hard as I could and it smashed into a lot of pieces. It felt great. But paying for a new one didn't and I've never been close since.

a few times(both xbox and ps2). I know I know. I broke the habit though. I did keep one ps3 controller which I literally ripped in half as a reminder of the wasted money.

Y'all gotta chose your games more wisely.
They're supposed to make you feel good, not raise your blood pressure.

You oughta play some nice mellow Yanni songs and stare at the full-screen visualizer for a couple hours to come off the 'roid rage... :D

The only time I did was playing Fifa on my PS1. It was a really close match, in stoppage time at the end of the match the other team 'decided' to burn all of my players and score. I spiked the controller into the floor and it flew into a bunch of pieces.

I agree. It's only a game. And having to teach a 7yr old boy that these are only games just reemphasizes that to me.

I have played controllers until the wore out, but I've never broken one out of frustration.

I destroyed a Dreamcast controller playing NFL2K back in 1999. My buddy sacked me probably 8 plays in a row. I accidentally ripped the controller out of the console in frustration and the connector broke. So I figured, what the heck? And used the controller like a mace and swung it into the tile floor in my basement. It was fun. But ridiculously stupid. I probably did it to take out my frustration of having graduated college and being forced to join the real world.

I haven't destroyed a controller since.

I've never thrown my 360 controller but I have certainly broken a few mice in my days. It's a lot easier to let the frustration get the better of you and smash down your mouse then actually hurdle something against the wall.

I have a vice in my garage. When I get mad I don't explode......I calmy and cooly walk to my garage and place the controller in the vice. Then I ever so slowly turn the handle and watch teh cotroller undergo a slow and painful death.

It's better this way. A quick throw is sudden and the controller has no time to dread.....it just feels the pain. I prefer the slow walk to the garage all the while verbally basting (yeah like a turkey) the little plastic bitch, so it knows it's gonna be slow, methodical, and brutal.

I broke a couple of ErgoStick controllers for the Amiga playing TV Sports Football and Basketball back in the day. I would throw them straight down on the floor when the CPU make some miracle or cheese play.

When the second one split in half I threw a real hissy fit and started jumping up and down on the pieces. Afterwards I realized how lucky I was I didn't send metal plate through my shoe and slicing into my foot!

I went and ponied up yet another $25 or so for a new controller, put the broken controller pieces into a clear bag and taped the bag right next to my monitor, and I haven't broken another controller since. :)

I never tossed a controller but i did throw a 10 speed bike off a bridge once. But i was thrown to the ground first when the chain came off. I thought it only fair. That was my last bicycle.

I threw mine at the floor awhile back and still use it even though the LB button only works if you squeeze it really hard.. But I kept throwing it to see if I could break it against the floor and I couldn't.. Damn thing is strong like bull..

One.....about 3 years ago. This was with XBOX1. What sucked worse is I bought a used controller to replace it for $25. Then, like 2 days later, my dog was chewing his bone near my feet while I was playing and he accidently (or not) bit into the wire. My game paused with a "controller not detected" message. So, I had to buy a 3rd one. Now, when I get really annoyed or frustrated at a game, I go to another room or shut the xbox down.

I did it a ton when I was a kid. I'm 25 and I remember doing it often when Super Nintendo first came out. I'm too lazy to look it up and do the Math...but I think I was in 6th grade or something.

I've broken many SNES controllers from throwing them at the wall. Mostly during Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II. Never did it to my PSX or any console system after that. Don't remember doing it to regular NES when I was even younger.

If you throw things out of rage because of something in a video game I think you truly have some anger management issues. Seek help, for all our sakes, as people like you probably will kill someone one day.
