I've downloaded the GTHD demo and like it. I also owned GT1 and GT2 with the PS1 and loved those games. Can someone give me an idea when either GTHD or GT5 is coming to market?

View Full Version : GT5 or GTHD (Gran Turismo) dmclone 03-27-07, 10:56 AM I've downloaded the GTHD demo and like it. I also owned GT1 and GT2 with the PS1 and loved those games. It was originally going to be released as a low cost, minimal gameplay version that you could purchase additions... ie cars and tracks. But it was cancelled back around November or December 2006. As for Gran Turismo 5, its still going in production and slated for a 2008 release. Tom Imp 03-27-07, 02:05 PM As for Gran Turismo 5, its still going in production and slated for a 2008 release. They pretty much have everything all in place as GTHD was all set to be released, so if this does take longer than 2008 to be released, then somethings wrong. It's not like they have to create the game from scratch again. dark1x 03-27-07, 02:39 PM They pretty much have everything all in place as GTHD was all set to be released, so if this does take longer than 2008 to be released, then somethings wrong. Tom Imp 03-27-07, 02:48 PM I hope they don't try to get too ambitious. From what I've seen of what was going to be released, it looked phenominal. The last thing we need is another long delay like we had between GT3 and GT4. soho54 03-27-07, 02:49 PM It's not like they have to create the game from scratch again. Actually, they are creating it from scratch again. They scrapped HD (a GT4 update really, it used the old PS2 engine) to devote more resources to the totaly new game engine. ;) makingmusic476 03-27-07, 03:01 PM Actually, they are creating it from scratch again. I doubt it will. Polyphony has said on multiple occasions that they want to focus their resources on making the driving dynamic as accurate as possible. Reproducing real-world driving physics is difficult enough as it is, much less adding in the effect of damage on the vehicle. Games like Forza may have a damage model, but their cars just don't behave in the virtual world like they would in the real. I think I can wait until 2008 for GT5. GT3 was the only reason I bought a PS2 back in the day. Aaahhh, how times have changed. dmclone 03-28-07, 07:38 AM So is GT4 worth getting for the PS3? rahzel 03-28-07, 08:08 PM Well, then I find it very hard to believe that they will make a 2008 release. they've been working on it since 2006. it will probably be a Q4 2008 or Q1 2009 title. |
