Ok I give up, when are the PS3 games going to start Upscalling?????????
So the Hardware scaller is turned on now right?
So are we just waiting for the Developers to implement it into future releases?
VF5 did it so what is the hold up with other developers?

I dont understand the problem people have with the upscaling issue. You've played ps2 games for YEARS with no problems. Most likely you're replaying games you've already played and therefore had experience with the nonHD signal already. Why worry about not being able to play OLD games in HD?

It just seems like a nonissue to me.

I think he has the non 720p tv issue, so he is playing new PS3 games on his HDTV at 480p.

It is the 1080i issue where 720p games are displayed at 480p. Your comment would be like me saying "Why are people complaining about blu-ray displaying at 480p on their 720p displays. Whats the big deal?" For both camps this is a big deal.

Understood. I've got a friend in the same boat.

I was referring to the people that make statements like: "Pfft, if God of War II is only going to display in 480p its not even worth buying. Sony needs to quit F*&$ing around"

Isnt there a reciever that will accept and scale for you? I thought I saw one for around $300 at the store last time I was there.

Only the horizontal portion of the scaler has been enabled so far, so a game must have a native vertical resolution of 1080 in order to achieve an upscaled resolution of 1920x1080. This is why it is up to the devs right now, as they must code games in weird resolutions like 1440x1080 or 1280x1080.

Once the scaler is fully enabled, things will scale automatically (just like the 360) no matter what the resolution is, and no matter what the devs do. Once it is fully unlocked, everything will be dependent on the ps3, and not the devs.

It's such a huge deal to me that it's one of the reasons why i'm holding out on getting a PS3 untill this upscaling issue get's fixed.

Its a huge deal to me also, I have a Mitsubishi 65' tv with a Beautiful Picture in 1080i but doesn't do 720. But It will upscale with Directv and that other console.
