even with the online translation im note sure if its delayed or they wont send me it?
HD-DVD-Cannuck 03-27-07, 04:07 PM Basically they are saying they are sorry for the delay which is beyond their control and that you will only be billed when it ships. They will confirm when the order is shipped. So you will get it when it becomes available - short verison of story.
Hope this helps.
puddy77 03-27-07, 04:07 PM I believe they are just apologizing for its delay. They tell you to go to the Your Account section if you want to change or cancel the order. But I imagine the order will stand until it is ready to ship, which I think is the end of May.
HDfruitcake 03-27-07, 04:09 PM ah, cool :)
shipping - in 4-8 days on the website but nada in the email
Damnationdoormat 03-27-07, 04:14 PM It's for the May 21st delay.
Though I have had Amazon France and Germany dick me around before for seemingly no reason. Despite the fact I frequently order from Amazon US, UK, and Japan (and assorted other places across the globe) with absolutely no problem at all.
This is why to me Xploited Cinema is the only way to go on these French and German HD DVDs, especially given the fact it's much more of a hassle (and a wait) to deal with Amazon.fr or .de if the disc is damaged during shipping. I've gotten damaged-during-shipping DVDs in the past from Xploited and gotten an undamaged replacement from them within the same week. Hell, sometimes they even sent the replacement with the return mailer just merely trusting me to send the damaged copy back.
WirelessGuru 03-27-07, 04:16 PM They send this type of notice out when an item they listed has been delayed and they have not been given any further information about the delay. It's possible that it will never become available. They will periodically send you these reminder notices. They are technically giving you the chance to remove it from your cart. If not it will sit idle. If it becomes available you will receive it. If they get confirmation it is no longer available then they will remove your order.
T2 was delayed in France and Germany, due to the fact that Canal+ wants to introduce a new AACS encryption on this HD DVD and other like Mulholland Drive and Brotherhood of the Wolf.
But the movie will definitely be available.

Yes, that's my impression, too. I received the same email. Let's hope for end of May.
It seems there are not too many french speaking people here on the board. For Amazon.de delay letters: just post them here, I'm confident somebody will help with translation. Google translator creates a lot of mess most of the time.
But nonetheless I wonder why there isn't someone with proper English skills at amazon.fr
Isn't that a premise for such jobs?

Not in France, as my experience shows. They are very proud of their language and often refuse to speak foreign languages, even if they understand you very well sometimes :) There is also a law in France which prohibits (or at least encourages) not to use english words in the public. Therefore they have funny words like:
- l'ordinateur (computer)
- le courriel (e-mail)
- restaurant rapid (fastfood restaurant, McDonalds)
But things change and I noticed that many people e.g. in Aix en Provence or Marseille were happy to talk in english when they recognized I'm from Germany. This "trend" started when France and Germany teamed up against the Irak war... But that's stupid politics, like the "so called" HD format war.

Yes very true, although from watching French movies and conversing on a few occasions with French people, they enjoy slipping in English words like "shopping", "parking" and a few other words that end with "ing". All pronounced with a French accent. sounds kinda funny too :)

I think it depends where they come from haha. I find Parisians speak more "Franglais" then many Quebecois...but thats just my experience.

There is, but their standard mails are sent out in the language of the site.
If you need help in English you can send an email to English@amazon.fr (the same to Germany [English@amazon.de] and Japan [English@amazon.co.jp]).
My experience with the French and speaking English is that the first few times I visited (late '70's and early '80's) it was next to impossible to get them to speak anything but French (unless you were a young Scandinavian blonde. I'm male, so being young, blond, and Scandinavian didn't help much).
Having visited a few times over the last 10 years I find the situation very different; People are often more than willing to speak English (young people often eager), and even Parisians are often helpful(!).

I know I speak French, as well, but speaking a major language like English has to be mandatory.
- baladeur (walkman) :)
There is even a law that says that at least 60% (I think) French music has to be played on the radio.
HDfruitcake 04-11-07, 04:51 AM Another amazon.fr email, slightly diffrent from the previous. The online translation makes my head hurt.

Thierry Delage 04-11-07, 06:24 AM Not in France, as my experience shows. They are very proud of their language and often refuse to speak foreign languages, even if they understand you very well sometimes :)
Come on, would you please cut the crap dude ? :) Even if that's true that french are a tad lazy regarding foreign languages, i have never heard of anyone who simply refused to answer someone just because he was SO PROUD OF HIS LANGUAGE (to use your own words).
Sometimes french people can manage to understand a bit of what you say in english (if by luck the words contained in the sentence are similar to the same french words) but it doesn't imply that if they don't answer you in english, they are refusing to do so and is simply linked to a lack of knowledge in the grammar / vocabulary field.
BTW, i can't count how many times i've been to USA (or germany in your case) and faced with people who were able to understand a bit of what i was saying in french but were simply unable to mangle up any reply. Though i've never got upset or thought they were so proud of their b****y language that they would refuse to make an effort and answer me (even using an approximate "french")
Therefore they have funny words like:
- l'ordinateur (computer)
- le courriel (e-mail)
- restaurant rapid (fastfood restaurant, McDonalds)
No comment about that one... That's simply pathetic !
How can you dare criticise the way people describe this or that using their OWN words in their OWN language. Talking about pride of a nation, then i think you're a living example of it... No offense mate but that's just the way i felt it
Good to know it's not cancelled. It's beter late than never :)

Actually, emails to english@amazon.fr aren't handled by French staff at all, the duties fall to the bain of all English-speaking consumers worldwide - the dreaded Bangalore call centers!!
