View Full Version : Guitar Hero II on PS3 question
dx31698 03-27-07, 05:25 PM Hi, my wife and I have wanted to get guitar hero II for some time now and recently we found a good deal on craigs list. My question is we don't ps2 anymore, just ps3, and I was wondering how do you play the game using the guitars if they are wired, also do the wireless one work as well??? Is there some sort of adapter that you have to buy? If anyone knows any answers to this, please let me know. Thanks
There's an adapter from Nyko coming out soon (not set date yet) that will allow the controllers to be used.
Until then, you're out of luck.
dx31698 03-27-07, 05:38 PM Thanks, any idea how much its going to cost, and if we get two guitars, am i going to have to buy 2 of these adapters?
chokeslam 03-27-07, 05:40 PM Nyko's site says Q2. What I really want to know is will the adapter and PS2 guitars work with the obviously in-the-works PS3 Guitar Hero games? I'd like some confirmation from Red Octane before I go out and buy all this stuff.
MarkMan23 03-27-07, 07:10 PM I've been keeping track of converters that work with digital PS1/PS2 controllers... so far there is only one that has worked for me on Guitar Hero/Guitar Hero II...
www.SDTEKKEN.COM
Clickon Tech-Area, then converters...

CEO of a TEKKEN site. He just has info on the adapters. I'd still wait for Nyko's version. Its the only adapter/converter mentioned on the site that i've heard of.
And to the OP. Yes, you'll need an adapter for each guitar.
TwinTurboZX 03-28-07, 10:45 PM One of the adapters on that site says it adds some slight lag to the controls. I hope the other adapters don't have any lag, because that would be screwed up for Guitar Hero. Timing is everything in that game.

True... but at least GH2 has an adjustment for lag, so that game wouldn't be a wash.
Slacker George 03-30-07, 09:49 AM Bad news if you're waiting for the Nyko:
http://www.ps3blog.net/2007/03/30/nyko-guitar-hero-adaptor-cancelled/
Citing “limitations in the PlayStation 3 hardware” the company says it has been “prevented from releasing this product with support for Guitar Hero.” Given this hardware roadblock, Nyko reps say that “the product has unfortunately been put on hold indefinitely.”

Oh, well. I don't feel so bad for breaking down and buying component cables for my PS2 now. Time to go the extra step of hooking it to the receiver and not just being lazy and using the TV sound, I guess.
Of course, this means God of War II with rumble...

My Samsung DLP adds about 40ms of lag. After calibrating, I was able to get 5 stars on Freebird on Hard after not having played for about 3 months.
I haven't tried Guitar Hero 1, but I'm not sure there is any point without the calibration.

Damnit, that is terrible news. :(
Now I have to wait until Guitar Hero 3 for the PS3 comes out??
OniKoroshi 03-30-07, 06:52 PM Is Guitar Hero PS3 even new? Or is it just a GH2 ported for ps3?

I heard that Guitar Hero 3 was going to be all new on the PS3...
Supermans 03-31-07, 09:41 AM I just bought Guitar Hero II two days ago because of the nyko adapter.. I got it on special at the Comp USA that was closing for good near my house. Now I can't return it. :(
Please keep this thread open if another company, hopefully pelican or sdtekken, can come up with one that works..I'm interested in anything at this point....Let me know with a link where to buy..

Except in that case GH2 can adjust only for vidoe lag not controller lag. The lag calibration only works if the normal response time of the controls is the constant.

it could work if your TV has no video lag...
