I know where that store is, I will have to check them out, thanks!

Berkline has City Furniture listed as a retailer, but I called and they said they were not. :(

I actually just saw that in one of their flyers. It is nice to see they are becoming more mainstream, should bring the prices down and the selection up.

I am in Edmonton as well Glimmerman and had the same question. THat stuff just isnt popular here I guess, and to get anything from the States is crazy.

Let me know if you find anything
Thanks

Having moved from Vancouver.. I transported all my Old Theatre seats. I do look occasionally locally in E town, but nothing much here...

SofaLand carries Palliser, but for the mark-up they're demanding, you could easily buy a very good used car or a $7000 3-chip DLP 1080P projector! The Brick -- for some stupid reason -- has stopped carrying the Palliser line of theater seating. Mark-ups at Finesse are just as bad. I've left a message at Yvonne's Furniture.

It bothers me to no end that you can see all these great theater seats online from US retailers -- at reasonable prices -- but then you have to worry about shipping and "brokerage & custome fees"... so much for free trade, eh?

Ship by USPS, then the brokerage is $5.00 flat fee regardless of value. The brokerage fees that are $50 and up are from UPS, Fedex, etc.

You would have to look up whether duty is charged on furniture or not. I have yet to import anything that was charged duty, most stuff is duty free now, even vehicles are now.

The reason people see such high charges when they pick it up are because they use UPS for shipping, and they don't remember hey have to pay GST as well.

I live in Edmonton as well and your crazy to think that buying local will give you anywhere near the value you will get by ordering from the states. I bought mine including shipping, handling, customs and taxes for less then 1/2 of what it would have cost to buy locally.
PM me if you want details.
