Does an HDTV's detection of 3:2 pulldown only apply to an incoming analog signal? That is, if my connection from my standard def DVD player to my HDTV is HDMI, then no 3:2 pulldown detection is necessary for improved picture quality, right?

Thanks,

Inverse telecine and 3/2 pulldown is always necessary on film-sourced content delivered in interlaced format. The connection has nothing to do with it.
