It looks good an all, and is only 7 dollars. I have no idea what 28AWG means. Is this cable ok to use with my PS3? Also am I sacrificing any quality by getting this cable, I mean its only 7 bucks...compared to some of those other 100 dollar HDMI cables.
There is no difference between a HDMI 8 dollar cable and a 200 dollar HDMI cable in terms of quality. An HDMI cable either works or it doesn't work, there is no in between.

They are nice... my PS3 and Oppo 981 are hooked to my Sammy 4095D using the same cables... :)
but what does the 28AWG mean, and is that part bad for my PS3?

28AWG is the thickness of the cables. For short runs, 28AWG is fine. If you have a longer run, you can get the 24AWG if you want.
The lower the number, the thicker the cable.

That inexpensive cable should be fine. You don't need the Sony "PS3 Optimized" HDMI cable, which is severely overpriced and unnecessary IMO.

For digital cables like HDMI, there is a very low ceiling for the value (price/quality) proposition.
Monoprice sells HDMI cables that have been tested @50ft runs to pass 1080p video and audio without loss.
There is no reason to pay more for an "optimized" cable. After first trying out Monoprice in August with the purchase of my plasma, I will never buy cables from another source if Monoprice stocks them. Very good value proposition!
